Why this Role?
This position for a Mechanical Engineer is within the Engine Installation and Cooling team supporting Large Mining Trucks.
This position applies general job duties listed above to a design scope which includes a high level of integration of various components and subsystems of engine and cooling installations (eg: air intake lines, cooling module structures, exhaust components, fuel lines etc.).
The type of component-level design in scope includes tube and hose routings, simple and complex fabricated steel structures, component mounting systems and non-metallic components.
The engineering disciplines applicable include fluid mechanics, kinematics, machine design, strength of materials, structural fatigue, noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) and heat transfer.
Typical task breakdown:
Upon receipt of project, determine scope and necessary actions.
Perform 3D modeling and initiate signoff workflow.
Collaborate with other system teams for space claim.
Review field history and implement lessons learned.
Coordinate updates to drawings and engineering notices.
Work with cross-functional teams to schedule production implementation.
Interaction with team:
Based in Tucson, AZ with a local on-site team of 5-6 with interaction of extended team members in manufacturing facilities in Illinois and India.
Collaboration with other system teams (Electrical, Light Structures, etc.) and the Large Mining Truck Product Group.
Work environment:
Office environment with visits to Proving Grounds facility as necessary.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required.
5-7 years' experience required.
Open to Associates Degree with 6+ years of experience.
Technical Skills
Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics required.
Knowledge of engineering processes, drawing standards and specifications required.
Proficiency in Creo (Pro/E) modeling and simulation tools (or equivalent).
Knowledge and experience with problem solving analysis - determining root cause, troubleshooting, concept generation, etc.
Product development experience including product design, validation test and/or simulation.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross functional teams and deliver proven, high-quality, cost-effective designs within committed timelines.
Mechanical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts.

Proficiency in TeamCenter or equivalent software (release workflow tool).
Ability to perform Creo Simulate analysis (or equivalent).
Participation in SAE competitions (Mini Baja, Formula, Supermileage, etc.)
