Job Description:

Hardware Engineer

Location: Lexington MA

Payrate: $70-$80/HR

Designs, develops, and tests computer hardware, including computer systems, circuit boards, computer chips, keyboards, routers, and printers. Supervises the manufacturing, production, and installation of the parts. Designs and oversees the production of computer hardware equipment. Tests and re-tests parts to ensure they work properly. Identifies and isolates defects. Designs and develops the software systems that control computers. Designs and tests circuits and other electronic components. Tests work and refine processes. Integrates components into the final design. Evaluates the effectiveness of the design and change if necessary. Generates specifications for parts. Controls the efficiency of processes. Builds, tests and modifies product prototypes. Analyzes information and recommend appropriate hardware to users. Designs support peripherals, including central processing units (CPUs), support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, and printers and disk drives. Specifies power supply requirements and configuration. Retrieves data for analysis of system capabilities. Experience with Hardware engineering software (Altium Designer, Orcad, Cadence Allegro) and Electronics tools (soldering irons, magnifiers)

Currently holds a Top Secret Clearance

Experience working in a UNIX based environment with familiarity of UNIX based scripting

Master

Required skills:

-In-depth understanding of high-speed board design (20GHz) utilizing Xilinx FPGAs, ARM based Single Board Computers (SBCs), Ethernet, power design including Point-of-Load (POL) converters, power sequencing, filtering and distribution, signal integrity, modern memory interfaces including DDR3 and DDR4, component derating, various signaling technologies and associated translations.

-Must have the ability to distill signal integrity simulations to rulesets for layout engineers with stackup and line width tolerance specifications for fabrication.

-Must have demonstrated track record in the use of the aforementioned technologies when designing, testing, integrating, and delivering space-based hardware. -Unparalleled laboratory-based integration and high-speed test skills are required.

-Additionally, the ability to work in an exclusively UNIX based environment complemented with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills is required.

Skills preferred:

-An understanding of analog, mixed-signal circuit design, A/D and D/A converters, EsiLink, I2C and SPI busses is a plus.

-Knowledge of SFP, SFP+, MSA300, XFP, QSFP interfaces in SONET and OTN deployments a plus.

-Working knowledge of Mentor Graphics Dx Designer, Expedition, Hyperlinx, HSPICE, VHDL, System Verilog and Ansys HFSS with SiWave helpful.

-This is onsite for 100% due to the nature of the work.

-This position requires top secret clearance for the start of the assignment due to the nature of the work.
