The Director of Operations supports the Executive Director to oversee daily operations of Massachusetts Youth Soccer. This position ensures that organizational activities are effectively and efficiently managed to meet strategic goals. The role requires evening and weekend hours, as well as occasional in-state and out-of-state travel to support events and activities. The Director of Operations reports directly to the Executive Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assigned supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee strategic planning, budget approval, operations, and staff management for Events, Marketing and Facilities.
Participate in the hiring and onboarding of new staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and address disciplinary matters in alignment with organizational policies.
Duties/Responsibilities
Assigned responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Event Management
Lead the planning, execution, and operations of major events such as the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions tournament, educational workshops/webinars, annual general and special meetings, special events, and collaborations with professional soccer teams.
Facility Management
Ensure all facilities and work environments are safe and meet operational standards. Work alongside Facility Manager and Fields and Hotels Coordinator to support and serve facility rentals and internal programs.
Marketing and Communications
Work with Marketing and Communications staff to create and implement strategic marketing plan and ensure that all communications, website content, and social media reflect the organization's values and priorities.
Policy and Procedures
Regularly review and analyze organizational operational policies, procedures and guidelines, presenting recommendations for improvements to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Technology Utilization
Evaluate and enhance the organization's use of technology to support internal operations.
Partnership Oversight
Manage relationships with vendors, partners, and sponsors to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Stakeholder Representation
Represent Massachusetts Youth Soccer at member organization, league, and partner committee meetings, as well as at clinics, special events, and relevant US Youth Soccer and US Soccer gatherings.
Miscellaneous Duties
Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or Board of Directors.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Expertise
Comprehensive understanding of business practices, financial management, and youth soccer operations at both regional and national levels.
Experience in Event Management / Facility Management preferred

Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Minimum of five years of related experience in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a wide range of environmental conditions.
