Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

This position is responsible for directing, developing, and overseeing the environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures for Dole Fresh Vegetables. This role provides environmental, health, and safety support to all operational groups in DFV ensuring all practices are following federal, state, and county regulations including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and DOT over multiple states.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental, health, and safety practices and policies.
• Responsible for the implementation of all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures for multiple facilities.
• Interfaces with regulatory agencies to including but not limited to CHP, EPA, OSHA, and DOT.
• Conducts safety and environmental audits of all operating facilities within DFV including PHA, PSM, and OSHA programs.
• Responsible for running and improving Dole's Target Zero Safety Program with the goal of preventing and reducing accidents at all locations.
• Conducts accident investigations, data analysis, recurrence prevention programs and procedures, and ensures corrective actions are completed.
• Conducts annual reviews of all location safety records. Compiles and presents data to Dole leadership and reports data to regulatory agencies as required.
• Responds to and provides direction in all emergency situations.
• Ensures all recordkeeping is timely and conforms to company mandates.
• Responsible for incorporating and following all Food Safety Requirements and GMPs as applicable to position.
• Manages and oversees the employee health centers in Springfield, OH and Bessemer City, NC.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements)
• 8-10 years' experience in employee safety management required.
• Strong background in OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations at the federal and state level.
• Working knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to make decisions and be process and results driven.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in oral and written form.
• Bilingual/biliterate English/Spanish required.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; to gather and analyze information skillfully.

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONS

?Internal: Department managers, Dole Corporate HR, Senior location Management, Legal, Finance,

?External: Government agencies: inspections, audits, reporting.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and environmental safety or a related field preferred.
• Most Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by Board of Certified Safety Professional and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by American Board of Industrial Hygiene

• Four direct reports

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and utilize a variety of office equipment.
• Ability to lift, stand, stoop, and perform otherwise physical functions required in normal office settings.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to work beyond regular business hours, rotating shifts as needed.
• Limited travel required
