POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Field/Construction Representative plays a key role in the successful execution of projects both in the office during design and on site with clients and the project construction team. This person is focused primarily on coordination of communications and work between different stakeholders (KFI project team, client, general contractor or construction manager, subcontractors, vendors, etc.). Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Field Representative is also responsible for trouble-shooting problems in the field, communicating with design Engineers., and facilitating the timely execution of decisions directly affecting the timeliness and quality of our work and the overall satisfaction of our client.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess a pragmatic approach coupled with strong construction and field experience, enabling them to quickly build credibility and thoroughly examine customer needs. They should be able to comprehend technical work in the field and effectively communicate complex situations and problems to others. We're looking for a naturally collaborative individual who can synthesize diverse ideas into actionable recommendations while being self-directed and adaptable to rapidly changing circumstances. The successful candidate must be willing to travel extensively, potentially spending weeks at a time on job sites.
Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Engage in design review, cost estimating, construction planning, scheduling, and equipment procurement.
Ensure that full documentation for the project takes place and is distributed to all of the right stakeholders.
Monitor the work of all contractors and subs, ensuring that the quality of the work meets or exceeds both KFI and our client's standards.
Attend construction meetings, ensuring full representation of the needs of both the client and KFI.
Gather information from the field as required to assist the overall team.
Carry out the research necessary to identify and address the root cause of problems.
Inspect equipment and critically observe testing of same.
Review and provide clarification to construction documents as required.
Communicate, both verbally and in writing as necessary, with the appropriate staff at KFI who can expedite the resolution of customer problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
10+ years of related Commercial Construction experience.
Possess a valid driver's license and a reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel.
Strong technical skills, and the demonstrated ability to understand and apply engineering and design principles and standards.
Fundamental understanding of multiple construction disciplines (millwright, piping, mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural).
Cost estimating.
Planning and organizational skills, combined with good attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to foster partnerships with vendors and build consensus among third parties.
Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application , including MS Office.
Preferred
Associate or bachelor's degree in Engineering/Construction field or relevant experience in Commercial Construction.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification highly preferred.
Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design.
Working experience with Revit.
Keen interest in construction.
Working Conditions
Frequent daily travel to project sites; travel will vary depending on project needs and locations.
Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
Ability to work outdoors in all conditions.
Ability to perform the physical movements necessary to obtain data in the field (use of ladders, accessing rooftops).
