Under the general direction of the Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor, the Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator will perform professional planning, organizing and administration of recreational programming, youth and adult sports and other recreational opportunities as desired by the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, scheduling, and evaluating recreation and athletic programs
Assists in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and staff training for program areas
Conduct and attend a variety of training seminars, staff meetings, coaching clinics, and community meetings
Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate part-time staff
Collects and tracks recreational usage statistics and prepares reports
Assists with pavilion reservations
Recruit's volunteers or contracted instructors for various programming needs
Coordinates training sessions for volunteers or contract instructors
Supervises staff involved in offering program activities
Assists with departmental budgeting, prepares activity budgets, and assists with monitoring departmental expenditures
Evaluates and assesses current program effectiveness or planned program feasibility after assessing community needs, by assisting with surveys, focus groups, or by other means
Develops program content
Promotes local community participation and support
Assists with town events
Works closely with the parks staff on park management and maintenance functions
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; distribute supplies and equipment; assist with ordering supplies and equipment for the various programs, parks, and staffing needs
Works with facilities and parks staff to ensure building and field setups are completed in a timely manner
Administers surveys and focus groups to gauge participant satisfaction levels, constructive feedback, gain ideas for new programs, and special events
Works directly with Marketing staff to ensure marketing materials, website, and social media sites are updated with accurate information
Develops collaborative programs with outside service agencies
Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with participants and creates a welcoming and inclusive environment
Adheres to Town of Timnath Employee Policies

QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of personal computers
Excellent communication (both verbal and written)
Ability to handle problem areas and conduct oneself in a mature, professional manner, with an emphasis on customer service
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with town employees and the general public
Ability to work under minimal supervision, independently, and with frequent interruptions
Willingness to participate in all levels of the work experience
Experience with recreation software is preferred
Considerable knowledge of developing and administering local government recreation and youth programs
Working knowledge of the rules of a variety of sports
Ability to run recreation department in supervisor's absence
Ability to work under stressful situations; ability to stay calm; have excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to work evenings, night shifts, split shifts, weekends and some holidays
Ability to participate in active sports and recreation activities
Ability to organize and direct fitness and/or recreation programs
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public, news media and other departments and agencies
Ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to direct the work of others
Valid Colorado Driver's license
CPR and First-Aid Certification is required (if not currently certified, this position is required to be certified within the first 6 months of employment)
Must be able to pass a post offer background screening
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Parks and Recreation Management or related field
Minimum of 1-3 years' experience working in a Parks and Recreation Department or recreation related field
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence of required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

May require driving during inclement weather
Use of protective equipment as required

Salary Hiring Range: $58,904 - $62,291 depending on qualifications and experience of selected candidate
