The Buyer II has overall responsibility for an assigned portfolio of suppliers for our Hillsboro site. We build ion and electron beam assemblies, used in laboratory and science applications worldwide, and dual-beam wafer cutting systems that are integral to the semiconductor industry.
This role is key in ensuring uninterrupted global supply of raw materials, OEM finished goods and services. This position's primary objective is to acquire inbound materials and services on time and complete, from approved critical global suppliers to support the operations and improve the organization's profitability.
A Day in the Life as Buyer II:
Use our MRP system to issue and manage purchase orders based on requirements
Complete returns process for material deemed defective
Ensure past due POs and PO confirmations are updated to ensure MRP accuracy
Deliver to key team metrics such as On Time Delivery and Order Confirmation rates
Collaborate internally and externally to flag supplier underperformance, find root causes and develop solutions
Participate in Engineering Changes as needed for revisions to parts and bills of material
Update part set points for order quantities and safety stock, reducing shortage risks and moderating inflow of inventory by reducing excess and obsolescence
Work with key internal partners (Sourcing, Planning, Customer Service, Finance) to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of our supply chain
Contribute to increased customer loyalty score (CAS)
Adopt and participate in initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the business
Assist other Buyers and the Purchasing Manager as needed
Keys to Success:
Education:
University degree in supply chain management, or an appropriate combination of education and experience
Experience
2 years of experience working in Purchasing department in a highly flexible environment
1 year of experience in management of critical supply chain for High-mix/Low-volume production
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Experienced in continuous improvement
Proficient use of SBM (Serena Business Management) or similar systems
Strong analytical skills
In depth experience with inventory, purchasing, and supplier management activity
Experience working with ERP systems (knowledge of QAD a plus but not required)
Strong organization and time management skills
Able to re-set priorities as corporate objectives change
Individual committed to partnership and achieving outcomes
An ability to think strategically and operate in a matrixed structure in order to improve business opportunities
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong English proficiency
Experience/knowledge of Microsoft Outlook/Microsoft Excel/Microsoft Word
Microsoft Access and Microsoft BI experience is a plus
