BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The position of Medical Director-PRN will report to the Health Services Administrator of the Eddy County Detention Center. The duties and responsibilities of the Medical Director is to see/evaluate Eddy County Detention Center detainees in person a minimum of three times a week, totaling four (4) to ten (10) hours a week. The Medical Director must maintain jail medical records on all visits, prescriptions and other orders written for the detainees. The Medical Director must perform onsite physicals and medical examinations of detainees as needed, and provide referrals for detainees to outside Providers and facilities when appropriate. The Medical Director must keep a time log of all time spent inside the facility and all phone calls or text messages, to be turned in to the medical record clerk weekly. The Medical Director will work with in their scope of practice as set forth by the NM Board of Nursing. The Medical Director must be available for text messages or phone calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Medical Director will consult with the Eddy County Detention Center Nursing staff regarding (sick Call) items of the detainees. The Medical Director must be familiar with the policies and procedures of the Eddy County Detention Center. The Mental Health Provider will use the Electronic Medical Record software, for all information pertaining to the medical/mental health of detainees. The Medical Director and the Contract Pharmacy will create and maintain a formulary for the Eddy County Detention Center. The Medical Director will sit on and/or Chair applicable committees. The Medical Director will provide appropriate reports to agencies, commissions or other medical entities or regulation boards as required. The Medical Director will maintain a Medication Assisted Treatment Program (MAT) that meets all requirements to be set forth by the State of New Mexico. The Medical Director must be willing to meet any Laws or Mandates set by the State of New Mexico and compliant with current and future legislation. The Medical Director will adhere to the ethical standards of their respective credentials. This position of Medical Director must have effective human relation skills to deal with individuals at all levels, including inmates, officers and other Detention Center employees. The Medical Director must possess the ability to handle stressful situations and respond appropriately. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job related meetings, and be required to perform other duties as assigned.
