Essential Job Duties:
University Housing at NC State University seeks an Coordinator, Resident Support and Standards to support Residence Life and University Housing Leadership leadership with behavioral concerns in our residential communities. This individual will have responsibility for the review and potential development of protocols and policies tied with addressing resident behavior and crisis response, as well as have responsibility over support of Student Conduct cases heard by University Housing hearing officers.
General duties
  • Attend and serve as the primary contact and liaison for University Housing with campus partners associated with the Bias Impact Response Team.
  • Serve as secondary point of contact with CARES Response Team and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).
  • Create, establish, and maintain campus partnerships.

Crisis and Resident Behavior
  • Collaborate with Coordinator, Residential Learning to identify and maintain ongoing training and development opportunities in response to crisis, student behavior, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Serve with the Assistant Director of Resident Support and Standards as a University Housing liaison with the Office of Student Conduct (OSC).
  • Serve as a backup hearing officer for conduct cases heard in University Housing.
  • Meet with on-campus residents as needed to support resident behavioral needs and assist with cases involving campus response teams.
  • In conjunction with OSC and the Assistant Director of Resident Support and Standards, design and lead conduct management trainings for University Housing hearing officers.
  • Assist with ongoing training for University Housing staff for Students of Concern, response processes, and reporting.

Open and Welcoming Community
  • Support the department in creating and maintaining an open and welcoming community.
  • Foster community in a residential environment comprising various student populations.
  • Serve as a resource to University Housing staff in addressing impact from bias-related events.
  • Work with the Assistant Director for Resident Support and Standards on programming and proactive measures for resident education on all Community Standards within University Housing.

Administration
  • Oversee operational processes within Residence Life connected with residential behavior, including but not limited to: Health and Safety Inspections and emergency evacuation drills.
  • Manage cases for all University Housing conduct case sanctioning requirements and communication with the hearing officer as needed for follow up.

Departmental Responsibilities
  • Participate in departmental assessment efforts.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection processes for University Housing, as well as staff searches both internal and external to the department.
  • Serve on University Housing, Division of Academic and Student Affairs, and/or campus partner committees as appropriate and needed.
  • Represent University Housing at University outreach events as needed.
  • Support Inter-Residence Council and National Residence Hall Honorary.
  • Support and participate in the development and implementation of the department's residential curriculum.
  • Assist with move-in, transitions, closing, and other Department or University events as needed.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities.

Other Responsibilities:
  • This position is required to handle confidential information appropriately and is bound by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This position is also a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act as well as reporting responsibilities under Title IX for any crimes of incidents of sex discrimination which they are made aware. In addition to reporting, training is required for these designations.
  • On a specific event/condition basis, the University may also take the unusual measure of "calling-in" employees who are not normally designated as "mandatory" and temporarily assign them to this status, if a specific adverse weather or other emergency event is critical enough to require it, as determined by the employee's immediate supervisor or next level manager.

Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field and two years of experience.

Other Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in crisis management.
  • Strong administrative and communication skills
  • Experience developing and/or maintaining effective campus partners.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, counseling, or a related field
  • Experience working within University Housing or Residence Life.
