Your role as Head of Government & Industry Relations:
The Bank’s Head of Government & Industry Relations plays a critical part in ensuring that the institution’s roles and activities are well understood by members of Congress on a non-partisan basis. This individual is responsible for:
Developing and implementing the Bank's government and industry relations strategy, serving as the senior liaison for Congressional Members and their staffs.
Building and fostering relationships with Congress, including but not limited to relevant banking, economic and finance committees and subcommittees, and other key local and national policymakers.
Facilitating the flow of information – reactively and proactively – between Members and their staffs and the New York Fed.
Responding to requests for information from the Hill, coordinating internally to ensure timely and effective responses.
Tracking legislative and policy trends that are relevant to the Fed’s mission and business lines, helping the Bank’s leadership understand those trends and priorities and counseling the Bank’s CEO and President.
Coordinating meetings between Members and Bank leaders, including the President and CEO as appropriate.
Establishing relationships and understanding the priorities of key finance, banking and other relevant industry associations.
Working collaboratively with the Board of Governors and the other Reserve Banks that make up the Federal Reserve Systems.
This role reports directly to the Head of Communications and Outreach at the New York Fed. It is supported directly by a Director of Government and Industry Affairs and has access to additional administrative and research support.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for a senior government relations leader with a proven track record of fostering productive relationships, understanding legislative trends and priorities, and providing sound counsel and direction. Specifically, we are looking for
Experience leading government relations portfolio, developing government relations strategies and representing organizations as a senior government affairs liaison.
Established relationships with relevant member of Congress and/or key Hill staff.
A basic understanding of the Federal Reserve and its unique responsibilities and role in the U.S. economy and a willingness to delve deeply into the same.
Ability to partner and collaborate internally with subject matter experts across the New York Fed’s portfolio to ensure the effective flow of information and provide effective counsel.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex issues.
Salary Range: $250000 - $300000 / year
