Your Role:
• Lead engineering design for energy-related projects, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy, particularly solar in utility-scale and distribution generation projects.
• Guide the site plan and zoning approval processes for renewable projects at the municipal level.
• Oversee the erosion and sediment control plan approval process through county and state regulatory bodies.
• Apply expertise in surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management in both construction and post-construction settings.
• Conduct hydrology and hydraulic analysis in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Plan, design, construct, and maintain stormwater infrastructure and Best Management Practices (BMPs), including low impact development and green infrastructure projects.
• Utilize civil and environmental engineering principles in grading, site layout, wetland impacts, traffic, utilities, and more.
• Work with industry-standard software such as HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, BlueBeam, etc.
• Navigate local, state, and federal water resources regulatory processes.
• Mentor junior and mid-level staff while managing multiple tasks and working effectively with project managers.
Qualifications:
• B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or a related field.
• 10-25 years of experience in engineering design, particularly in energy-related projects.
• Professional Engineering License preferred.
• Proven experience with renewable energy projects, including leading approval processes for site plans, zoning, and erosion and sediment control.
• In-depth understanding of civil and environmental engineering principles and regulatory processes.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project) and other relevant software tools.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Experience working in VA and neighboring states is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
