The plant manager leads, directs, and controls the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing facility to achieve the short and medium-term financial and operating objectives set by the KCNA organization business plan. Drives improvement through execution of Global Supply Chain tools and methods.  Leads the transformation of the workforce to a highly enabled and engaged one.  It is the responsibility of the Plant Manager to ensure production meets output and at desired quality for the lowest possible cost working within the standards of corporate, state, and federal policy. The Plant Manager will direct, coach and mentor staff to devise methods to use the plant's human capital and capital resources to best meet production goals. Budgetary responsibility includes oversight of the facility's processes and activities to achieve KPI's across multiple categories including safety, quality, labor, waste, costs, efficiencies, etc.

Customers and Customer Requirements:

Key customers are product end users, distributors, sector management, sales management, marketing personnel, and mill employees.

  • Facility in compliance with governmental laws and requirements.

Essential Accountabilities:


  • The mill manager will provide overall leadership and direction to plant managerial and hourly teams in all aspects of the production operation including production, warehousing and shipping operations, maintenance, capital projects and continuous improvement.

  • Anticipate trends in organization's market trends, raw material purchasing price fluctuations, community factors, or associate cultural factors which may influence operating activities.

  • Contributes to achieving production objectives through coordinating workflow and product quality.

  • Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary.

  • Anticipate and provide direction on future capital projects and equipment needs.

  • Maintain effective community and government relations to assure the early identification of potential problems and maintain and build Kimberly-Clark’s image in the community.

  • Key accountabilities are to establish and achieve business objectives in the areas of safety, quality, customer service, cost, asset management, housekeeping, environmental, employee relations, human resource development, raw material management, and corporate ethics.

  • Manage the operation so that the working environment is maintained at the highest level of safety, housekeeping, appearance, and physical condition to ensure compliance with corporate policies, government regulations, and good manufacturing practices.

  • Lead risk reduction control throughout the organization by visibly demonstrating that safety is embraced as a value.  Provide resources, develop safety systems and maintain those systems in accordance with Kimberly-Clark loss control management to achieve a safe working environment.

  • Establish and ensure achievement of safety objectives and fully comply with corporate loss management policies as well as government safety and health regulations

  • Drive talent strategy to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains the best people and fosters an environment which motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results.

  • Delivery of cost savings in the range 3-5% of operating budget annually.

  • Monitor key performance indicators to assess labor and variance to budget, productivity, and schedule adherence to ensure on time delivery of tissue product to KC professional customer base.

  • Performance management and personal development in order to drive business results in Environment, Health, Safety, Productivity, Cost, and Delivery metrics.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or related engineering discipline

  • 10 plus years' leadership experience in a fast-paced environment with manufacturing operations or business function.

  • 7 plus years of Supply Chain/Manufacturing experience leading large-scale change

  • Demonstrates safety is a value, actively coaches and participates in safety management on an ongoing basis and is knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices.

  • Understands the application of quality systems for measuring, monitoring, controlling and improving materials, products and processes.

  • Ability to organize and plan; delegate responsibility and authority; lead and motivate people; and maintain effective control of the operation.

  • Broad knowledge and extensive experience in business management, including the successful management of a product system or functional department

  • Judgment and ability to interact effectively with governmental agencies to maintain positive community relations

  • Proven Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience and the ability to deploy this knowledge and experience to accelerate KCNA’s transformational efforts.

  • Experience working with a high-performance work system for operations is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications


  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree in Material Science or Sustainability

  • Experience working with big 4 strategy consulting firms

  • Experience working with large CPG engagements requiring significant cross functional collaboration

  • Experience driving venture capital investments or academic partnerships

Salary Range: $181,000 to $234,000.

Total rewards at Kimberly-Clark include pay and a full benefits package. The anticipated base pay range for this job is listed above, and this position may also be eligible for a target bonus opportunity of a percentage of the base pay. Individual base pay levels will be based on multiple factors including, but are not limited to, location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
