Position Summary
Are you a seasoned leader who thrives in high-stakes environments and excels at shaping narratives? Accountable.US is seeking a Vice President to lead a campaign and manage its strategic messaging, engagement, research, and communications. You would also serve as a key spokesperson and liaison for the organization in your program area. The ideal candidate is an innovative strategist and a collaborative partner who understands how to use research to engage in narrative-driving work, create impact, and who can engage diverse stakeholders to advance the organization's mission. This role requires a proactive, adaptable leader committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Some night and weekend work is required in this fast-paced, dynamic position.
What You'll Do
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight: Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategic plan and project goals for one of Accountable.US's program areas, leveraging our expertise in opposition research, rapid response, and innovative communications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with senior leadership to assess and fulfill staffing and organizational needs essential to implementing the strategic plan successfully.
Program & Project Leadership: Drive the daily execution of strategic objectives within your program area, ensuring goals are met and aligned with Accountable.US's mission. Oversee related grant deliverables, polling, research and messaging vendors, and, where appropriate, paid media campaigns to maximize impact. Serve as a spokesperson as needed to represent the organization's goals effectively.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships: Act as a liaison with key stakeholders, maintaining relationships with current partners and developing connections with new stakeholders to enhance program reach and influence.
Additional Responsibilities
Team Development and Mentorship: Manage and mentor a team of communications professionals, fostering growth and collaboration within the department.
Commitment to DEI: Identify opportunities to embed diversity, equity, and inclusion within communications strategies and public messaging.

Desired Experience & Skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, political science, or a related field preferred; law degree preferred.
Experience: 10+ years political and/or advocacy experience required, with preference for candidates who have campaign experience. Management experience is also required, with a proven track record of producing results from a high-performing team.
Knowledge: Familiarity with the legal system is strongly preferred.
Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to create impactful media and public relations strategies. Collaborative approach with the flexibility to adapt in a dynamic environment.

What We Offer
The salary range for this position is $175,000-$200,000. Exact compensation package is commensurate with experience. Our excellent benefits package includes health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, a 401(k) match, generous paid time off, professional development opportunities, and more. Accountable.US is currently operating in a hybrid work environment and requires employees to be in the office a minimum of 2 days per week, although this requirement is subject to change. Some weekend work may be required.
