Are you an RTL engineer who is interested in guiding the future of the Arm architecture? Look at joining our team with an open and relaxed culture where outstanding, creative engineers work together on significant projects. Whether you consider yourself an experienced CPU Micro-architect or an expert RTL design engineer, this role offers you challenging work with forward-thinking colleagues and the ability to make an impact on your industry. At our Austin-based design center, you will join a small and hardworking RTL design team that collaborates closely with the architects crafting the next generation of Arm architecture extensions.
Job Overview:
As a design engineer in this team, you will contribute to the exploration of how new proposed architecture impacts implementations through micro-architecture investigation, RTL design using System Verilog, synthesis, and FPGA analysis. You will work closely with others across sites and cultures to help guide the future Arm architecture.
Responsibilities:
Design engineers are required to have an in-depth understanding across all elements that contribute to CPU design. This includes low-power and high-speed design techniques to produce designs that are area efficient. Your key responsibilities will be to analyze new architectural extensions and features through high level examination, developing System Verilog RTL, running synthesis and power tools, and FPGA exploration. You will need to be able to test and debug these designs. As a Staff engineer, you will also guide and support other members of the team as needed to enable the successful completion of projects and contribute to developing and improving design methodologies used by the team.
Required Skills and Experience :
In-depth Verilog/System-Verilog skills
Experience in CPU design crossing multiple generations of projects
An understanding of the fundamentals of computer architecture and systems
Able to make trade-offs between power, performance and area appropriately to meet the requirements of the architect and experience in synthesis and timing closure for high frequency designs
Proficiency in CPU verification and debug
"Nice To Have" Skills and Experience :
Solid understanding of RTL design for sophisticated SoC development
Basic scripting languages, e.g. Perl/TCL/Python
Exposure to C/C++, assembly language and/or verification techniques and test benches (e.g. UVM and Formal)
Experience working with FPGA and emulation
In Return:
We offer a competitive reward package including annual bonus, healthcare and wellness support as well as other benefits such as a 4-week sabbatical earned after 4 years with the company.
