Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Treasury, the Senior Director, Risk Management will be responsible for implementing and maintaining GXO's risk management program. Duties include administration of property and casualty insurance, general liability insurance, product liability insurance, workers compensation, cyber insurance, executive risks and management of GXO's captive.

What you'll do on a typical day:


  • Negotiate and renew insurance policies for various lines of coverage, with the objective of minimizing the total cost of the insurance program. Determines optimized risk retention levels, aggregates and limits of insurance; manage relationship with insurance brokers and insurance companies. Drive coordination amongst the company, liability insurance companies, brokers and/or attorneys.

  • Reviews and analyzes company practices and liability experience towards developing policies, practices, training and programs designed to reduce or eliminate costs relating to liability claims; establishes and implements procedures to ensure timely notification and proper reporting of claims and litigation against company to appropriate internal stakeholders, insurers and third-party administrators.

  • Reviews and analyzes exposure risks presented by claims and litigation and ensures establishment of appropriate liability reserves; monitor progress of litigation and as necessary, participate on behalf of GXO at alternative dispute resolution proceedings, settlement conferences and trials.

  • Oversight of claims reporting process, payment authorization and reconciliation of invoices

  • Provides actuarially derived budgetary guidance management.

  • Reviews insurance billings against claims data to ensure detailed reconciliation in line with Sarbanes Oxley regulations.

  • Understands applicable GXO insurance policies and identifies significant developments on liability matters and insurance coverage issues that may impact company's risk and exposure.

  • Liaison with the M&A team on all risk management related items

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent related work or military experience

  • 7 years of risk management, insurance industry experience or other relevant finance experience

It'd be great if you also have:

  • MBA or other advanced degree in Finance or similar field

  • 10 years of risk management or insurance industry experience or other relevant finance experience

  • 3 years proven success in a leadership role

  • Licensed insurance industry professional a plus
