The SF Fed’s Supervision + Credit (S+C) group works with other federal and state authorities to strengthen financial institutions, promote a safe and sound financial system, and ensure fair and equal treatment of consumers. The S+C group is responsible for executing the Federal Reserve’s bank supervisory policies and programs within the western United States under delegated authority from the Board of Governors. This is accomplished through a combination of on-site examinations and off-site supervision activities for the diverse portfolio of financial institutions subject to the supervision of the SF Fed. We also work within the Federal Reserve System supervising and assessing risk at large financial institutions.

Finally, the S+C group is responsible for the SF Fed’s discount window operations as well as its payment system risk functions. The SF Fed’s S+C group has approximately 400 officers and staff.

The Business Operations Manager - Exam Operations will lead a diverse team in supporting the exam life cycle by ensuring key service deliverables are done on time, of highest quality, and within quality management requirements.  This position reports to the Senior Manager Business Operations – Exam Operations and will support all facets of day-to-day operational activities while ensuring focus on team member in role development.

The Manager, Business Operations – Exam Operations will lead a diverse team in supporting the exam life cycle, ensuring key service deliverables are completed on time, of the highest quality, and in compliance with quality management standards.  This position reports to the Senior Manager Business Operations – Exam Operations and supports all facets of day-to-day operations while fostering team development and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage operational support across multiple areas including exam operations, quality and process improvement initiatives.

  • Responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of the team’s deliverables/outputs, while holding team members accountable for meeting performance standards and delivering high-quality results.

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve the team’s department and organizational goals while driving innovation and continuous improvements.

  • Identify, standardized and implement improved processes and workflows to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and adaptability trough clear and frequent communication with staff, stakeholders and leadership.

  • Present findings, recommend initiatives and provide actionable insights to leadership, supported by clear success metrics and data driven analysis.

  • Work cross-functionality to establish priorities, address challenges, and identify process improvement.

  • Lead and oversee the implementation of group, districts and system-wide projects, focusing on business process improvement, technology enhancements, and risk management strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and governance standards to safeguard operational integrity and minimize risk.

  • Coach and mentor team members to achieve professional growth, emphasizing development, regular feedback and alignment with organizational values.

Requirements:


  • Seven or more years of business or related work experience and five or more years of experience in managing/leading teams. Substantive “Examiner in Charge” experience can substitute formal people management.

  • Bachelors degree in field related to functional area of responsibility or business management

  • Demonstrated ability to implement and execute multiple projects on time and within budget.

  • Proven ability to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels in an organization.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and familiarity with data analysis tools and reporting software.

  • Development and implementation of processes and policy development, with a focus on a scalable, repeatable solutions.

  • Track record of successfully leading and mentoring diverse teams.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with a track record of driving measurable outcomes trough innovating solutions.

  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%.

  • This position requires access to confidential supervisory information, which is limited to “Protected Individuals.”  Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals, U.S. permanent residents who are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization, and U.S. permanent residents who have applied for naturalization within six months of being eligible to do so or who will sign a declaration of intent to apply for naturalization before they begin employment.

Base Salary Range: Min: $126,300  Mid: 163,900  Max: $201,600 (Location: San Francisco)

Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.

Due to the nature of access to sensitive information all final offers are subject to the clearance of an enhanced background check. This enhanced screening will require the following items: academic and employment verifications, FBI fingerprint check (criminal and civil cases), credit check, family history, residential records and foreign travel for the previous 7 years, citizenship verification, reference checks, and personal interview with an investigator and can take between 21 – 60 days to clear.
