Job Description:

Blue Cross of Idaho is seeking a Total Rewards Analyst Intern in our Human Resource Department for the Summer. This opportunity will allow an intern to work on processes on data input tasks, report creation and analyses to help identify trends, and process improvements. Understand compensation (how employees are paid), align job roles to a pay grade and professional level. Interns will also learn the basic concepts of benefit programs offered to attract and retain employees: health insurance, time off and retirement savings.


This paid internship will be located at our corporate headquarters in Meridian, ID and may have some opportunity for hybrid work schedule.




What we are looking for in an intern:




  • Data mining, analytical skills to identify patterns

  • Proficient in Excel (Access or other databases)

  • Financial or business acumen or high interest

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Attention to detail (proofing for spelling, grammar; mathematical proficiency)

  • Ability to work with multiple data sources (i.e. on screen windows/workbooks/documents) simultaneously and maintain accuracy in project completion and analysis

  • Resourceful and inquisitive

  • Interest or experience in creating online (web-like/SharePoint) content to communicate to target audiences





What you will learn on this internship:




  • Will be trained to understand the concepts of healthcare, life insurance and retirement plans, and compile a historical record of all benefit changes and rates for BCI's plans

  • Compare records over various years to identify plan and population shifts, trends in health service utilization; analyze retirement enrollment data to identify areas of targeted communication (low savers, people in single investment categories, etc.)

  • Identify policy/plan changes within formal plan documents and archive them by year

  • Review, create and modify SharePoint site for relevant and current content, placement, make recommendations or update material for enhanced communication

  • Basic operation of Compensation system, Workday system and HRIS processes and procedures

  • Identify matching to jobs by career level, job description maintenance and job benchmarking.

  • Create documentation / business requirements to compensation actions

  • Complete a job review and analysis, create job descriptions and evaluate Fair Labor Standards Act provisions.
