ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Chief Pilot divides their focus between external and internal aviation activities and is responsible for the corporate flight department, flight crew records, flight time limitations, and qualifications as set forth by the FAA to meet applicable legal requirements and maintain safe operations (14 CFR Part 91 Subpart F.) The position has both tactical and strategic elements; seeking solutions to short-term operational issues and planning long-term solutions to encompass the corporate strategic vision for world class passenger experiences on the corporate aircraft. The Chief Pilot is also a Pilot in Command (PIC) and performs PIC duties on company aircraft.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for all jet management, trip coordination, meals, car rentals, maintenance, and general coordination for all corporate passengers authorized to use the corporate aircraft

  • Communicates effectively with the Executive Assistant, COO, and CEO as appropriate regarding relevant trip, flight operations and maintenance, and pilot training activities

  • Provide world class passenger experience on the corporate aircraft

  • Ensure the execution of plans and policies for company-related compliance issues

  • Act as a direct liaison to the FAA for matters pertaining to the aircraft operation and pilot training and certification

  • Maintains flight manuals, checklists, and crew equipment required for the aircraft

  • Ensures adequate flight crew training, testing, recording, and archiving training records

  • Responsible for operational control to initiate, terminate, or divert all company flight operations

  • Responsible for cancelling or suspending any flight operation in the interest of safety until it can be confirmed that the safety hazard has been removed or is no longer a threat to safe operations

  • Maintains a proactive focus on pilot staffing needs and recommends staffing level adjustments to maintain optimal operational efficiency and regulatory compliance

  • Fulfills line pilot scheduling vacancies as directed by the Director of Operations or his designee as the need arises

Job Requirements:


  • Must have at least 5 years of experience, within the past 8 years of aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135

  • Must hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with a type rating in the aircraft operated; Minimum 5,000 hours Total Time

  • Must possess a valid and current FAA Class 1 or 2 Medical Certificate

  • Must have previous leadership experience from a Part 135 environment or military equivalent

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Must be thoroughly familiar with the Company Manuals, Operations Specifications, and FAA Regulations

  • Understand and be able to implement safety management

  • Displays strong team-building skills in planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling members of the flight operations team

  • Excellent communication skills with quick and accurate decision-making

  • Close attention to detail

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, work processing systems/software, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and related terminology

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of employment, including file and record maintenance

  • Knowledge of technology used for training purposes or possess an interest in learning the technological methods used in training

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to pass Transportation Security Administration required background screening, secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges

  • Must have a valid passport and be able to travel internationally without restrictions

  • Ability to work varying hours consistent with the culture and needs of GREIF

  • Fulfill all job responsibilities and requirements of GREIF Pilot In Command

Physical Abilities:


  • The Physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position must perform in carrying out essential job functions.

  • Ability to reach horizontally and vertically with arms. Sufficient dexterity to manipulate small objects and print or write legibly.

  • Sufficient physical ability, strength, mobility, and stamina to lift, carry, push, or pull objects which may frequently exceed 70 pounds in a series of functional tests which clearly simulates the work environment.

  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time.

  • Requires the ability to be sedentary for extended periods of time.

  • Shall perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or aviation career field

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other


  • FAA ATP with multi-engine rating as follows (IAW 61.160):


  • 5,000 hours total flight time experience that can include:

    • 1,250 hours with appropriate university R-ATP certificate or

    • 1,000 hours with military pilot qualification or

    • 1,000 hours with appropriate university R-ATP certificate

    • 1500 hours cross-country (>50 nm) flight time

    • 1500 hours fixed-wing PIC

    • 250 hours of night flying, or 75 hours with ≥45 night takeoffs and landings

    • 250 hours of instrument time (actual or simulated in-flight, excludes simulator time)



  • Current FAA First or Second Class Medical certificate

  • FCC Restricted Radio Operator's Permit
