Overview
A Way Home America (AWHA) (awayhomeamerica.org) is a national organization ending homelessness for Black, Indigenous, youth of color, and LGBTQ+ youth, on a path to ending it for all. Our work is driven by the following values. We are homeless youth providers, advocates, researchers, government agencies, philanthropists and young people uniting behind a common goal: Prevent and end homelessness among all youth and young adults. Ensure that homelessness among youth and young adults is rare, and if it occurs, experiences of homelessness are brief and one-time.
A Way Home America is a fiscally sponsored organization of TSNE (tsne.org).
Responsibilities
A Way Home America’s Finance and Operations Manager oversees the AWHA’s operations. The Finance and Operations Manager reports to the Executive Director. This person is a nimble, hands-on team member energized by the challenge of managing the high volume of AWHA operational needs. The incumbent is poised to grow professionally alongside the movement and our organization as both reach an important inflection point.
Essential Functions
Financial Job Functions
Participates in fund development and grant writing process;
Participates in spending projection and budget modification plans;
Manages and monitors the organization’s budgets to ensure accuracy;
Monitors spending volume to ensure programs and organization remain on target;
Manages contracts and negotiations with vendors and service providers;
Partners with the Administrator to ensure invoices are processed accurately and timely for payment;
Monitors and provides support in controlling costs, including analyzing cost structures and implementing cost-saving measures;
Conducts financial analysis to assess financial performance, evaluate financial opportunities, and support decision making;
Utilizes Sage Intacct to manage budget, reporting, and accounts payable and receivable;
Identifies financial risks and implements strategies to mitigate them, including insurance and compliance measures;
Prepares and presents to leadership body and key stakeholders to provide financial reports including variance analysis and key performance indicators;
Collects and compiles weekly event and meeting log data to compose quarterly funder reports;
Coordinates with TSNE Grants and Finance Manager to:
Submit grant reports
Review monthly financial reports;
Prepare grant reports and request budget revisions or grant extensions;
Participate in finance calls with TSNE's
Participates in the development of the organization's annual
Operational Functions
Manages and books staff team travel, lodging, per diem, etc
Facilitates staff team meetings;
Assists the Executive Director in the development and implementation of the strategic planning process;
Manages project management platform for organizational excellence;
Is an innovative contributor of ideas, strategizing and implementing them to provide continuous improvement to the organization including the area of process improvement;
Develops and maintains a filing system within the Google Suite;
Participates in recruiting, orientation, and onboarding of new staff;
Participates in the development, management, and ongoing enhancement of the Volunteer Management Plan and participating volunteers.
Additional Information
This role requires the ability to travel for events and meetings and the ability to work occasional nights and weekends.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance and/or Business Management or related degree;
4+ years demonstrated progressive management history in a nonprofit;
Program evaluation experience;
Effective and productive in a remote work environment;
Computer skills: Microsoft Office software (including experienced to advance knowledge of Excel) and Adobe Acrobat, Google Suite, and financial software;
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills inclusive of public speaking, facilitation and social media;
Experience in building relationships with diverse populations;

Compensation and Benefits
Location:Work is primarily performed remotely from personal home office. This role requires the ability to travel for events and meetings.
Schedule: This role requires the ability to work during regular business hours Monday – Friday EST and occasional mornings, nights and weekends.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $68K- $73,500.
