Job Summary
If you're looking for a fun, fulfilling part time job, have we got an opportunity for you! Salem Hospital's Gift Shop is looking for a friendly, responsible, hard working Associate for 10 hours per week. All or some of the hours may be on the weekends. - The Gift Shop Associate will support the daily operations of the shop including sales, inventory management and customer service. - Responsible for assisting customers with their purchases with a positive energetic attitude which includes making recommendations and suggestion to meet the customer needs. - Sales functions of opening and closing the store if needed according to current standards of operations following security guidelines. - Ability to accurately operate a cash register, credit card machine and balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift - Receive and price incoming merchandise. - Assist with merchandising and display of products. - Answer phone calls, take messages and special orders over the phone. - Must be able to accurately, efficiently receive incoming merchandise: unpack boxes, match incoming orders with the packing slips, record damages and shortages, price and arrange merchandise on shelves. Assist with ordering of merchandise. - Maintain an organized backroom and restock the sales floor as needed. - Gift wrap purchases, create gift baskets and make deliveries within the hospital as needed. - Work with volunteers on a daily basis and under the direction of the store manager delegate tasks to volunteers.



Qualifications


- Ability to work independently - Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment and maintain a positive attitude - Ability to accurately use a cash register and computer and counting money - Strong communication skills. Must be able to fluently read, write and speak English - Lift up to 20 pounds, ability to stand for extended periods of time. - Flexibility to be scheduled based on the hours of operation, sales, seasonal trends and the needs of the business throughout the year. This may include working weekends - Work well with others. - Organizational skills, detailed orientated and work accurately - High level of customer services - Problem solving and decision skills - Previous retail experience preferred - High school diploma or equivalent required
