Position Description

Company Overview:

We are a growing quarry operation located in Waikoloa, providing high-quality aggregate to the local Big Island market. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as Quarry Operations and Sales Manager. This unique role requires someone who can oversee the daily operations of the quarry while also driving sales growth by building relationships with clients and producing high quality aggregate products for the local market.


Position Overview:

This person will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of the quarry's production operations, ensuring compliance with all regulations while also upholding the company’s high standards. In addition to managing daily operations, this role will involve active participation in sales activities, including managing customer relationships, growing the client base, and meeting sales targets. This is a key leadership role, and the ideal candidate will have experience in both quarry management and sales.


Key Responsibilities

Quarry Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the quarry, including production planning, resource allocation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and legal regulations.
  • Manage the extraction process, quality control, and inventory levels of aggregates, rock, and sand products.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.
  • Effectively lead and supervise a small team of quarry staff, including operators, laborers, and administrative staff, ensuring effective communication and productivity to meet safety and sales goals.
  • Monitor and report on production performance, budget adherence, and operational efficiency.


Sales & Business Development:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local customers, contractors, and developers to understand, anticipate, and meet their material needs.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the local market to grow the sales of quarry products.
  • Set and achieve sales targets by promoting and selling the company's products and services.
  • Manage customer inquiries, provide product recommendations, and ensure timely delivery of all orders.
  • Prepare sales quotes, negotiate contracts, and manage accounts receivable.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in quarry management, material crushing operations, or a similar operational role, ideally within the aggregates or construction industry.
  • Strong sales experience, preferably within the construction, aggregates, or related industries.
  • Ability to manage production schedules, personnel, and budgets effectively.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety regulations related to crushing and quarry operations.
  • Understanding of all relevant environmental regulations and local permitting processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Proficiency in using operations and sales software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or industry specific continued education.
  • Experience working in Hawaii or knowledge of the local market and business landscape.
