Job Summary
Newton-Wellesley Hospital's Rehabilitation Services is committed to providing exceptional care for our patients. We are seeking an energetic, motivated individual to join our team as an Insurance Authorization Specialist. This role includes verifying coverage and benefits to enable efficient and timely care delivery. This individual is responsible for developing and maintaining up to date knowledge of individual insurance program requirements relative to Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Pathology and works as a liaison between the department, the patient, and insurance providers. In this role the Insurance Authorization Specialist develops a strong working relationship with third party payers and physician offices, and coordinates insurance benefits for all appropriate patient visits. In addition, this role will assist with patient access and appointment scheduling, answering phones, patient registration, handling medical records, filing, and collection of co-payments. This role will also support department patient access as needed to include scheduling, check in, check out, answering phones etc.



Qualifications


High school graduate or equivalent or Junior College graduate with background in secretarial related courses. Medical terminology, transcription, word processing, and data entry skills required. Knowledge of third party payer requirements or the ability to quickly assimilate necessary information and maintain knowledge in a rapidly changing environment, the ability to demonstrate evidence of good judgment, interpersonal skills, and customer orientation. Effective communication and cognitive skills are a plus. Knowledge/experience with Insurance/Authorization and Referral Management Required Rehab (PT/OT/Speech) Support Experience preferred.
