Job Summary
One position is open for a highly motivated Research Technologist I in the Batista Lab at the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard. The candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining mouse colonies with complex genetic backgrounds. Additionally, they will work closely with lab personnel to carry out mouse experiments, including immunizations and blood and tissue harvesting. Furthermore, the candidate will play a pivotal role in facilitating effective communication and collaboration between laboratory staff, veterinary staff, vivarium staff, and Transnetyx colony management personnel, ensuring prompt and diplomatic resolution of any arising issues. The successful candidate must be capable of performing various mouse procedures and immunocharacterization experiments, and they should possess highly organized, self-motivated, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Will work in managing and maintaining mouse colonies with complex genetic backgrounds. - Will work in collaboration with lab personnel to perform mouse procedures, including adoptive transfers and infection/immunization studies. - Will play a pivotal role in facilitating effective communication and collaboration between laboratory staff, veterinary staff, vivarium staff, and Transnetyx colony management personnel, ensuring prompt and diplomatic resolution of any arising issues. - Preparing and immunostaining of mouse tissues for flow cytometry and sorting - Responsible for general upkeep of animal handling areas and equipment - Perform basic design and modification of protocols. - Organize and summarize acquired data, using scientific and statistical techniques. - Organize and/or draft materialfor the preparation of research papers, manuscripts and other documents for publication and/or presentation. - Participate in the design of experiments or field work.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 4+ years of directly related mice work experience. SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: - In-house training for all specific procedures will be provided. - Enthusiasm and intellectual engagement in the experimental program are a major plus. - Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. - Must communicate regularly and effectively with team members. - Ability to work independently and as a team member. - Ability to perform multiple tasks independently and to resolve technical problems. - Ability to interpret acceptability of data results. - Working knowledge of mouse colony management programs - Demonstrated competence in research techniques and methodologies.
