Job Summary

This position will cover both adult units on the Oak St campus. Responsible for providing group therapy in inpatient programs. Provides individual therapy which focuses on the application and acquisition of skills addressed in groups. May include individual assessments as needed. The incumbent is responsible for facilitating group psychotherapy on the McLean SouthEast adult inpatient units, along with facilitating individual therapy which focuses on the application and acquisition of skills addressed in groups. Groups will fit within the following frameworks: 1) Educational, 2) social interaction, 3) community making. Work with the specific unit's Inpatient Group Coordinator to facilitate group experiences and support the needs of the identified client population. Additionally, they are encouraged to participate in other hospital activities including, as time allows, committees, teaching, trainings, and research. - Facilitates group and/or individual therapy with clients as assigned. Interventions should be structured appropriately to the specific clientele being served. Facilitator will be responsible for both set-up before and clean up after the group occurs. - Provides a non-judgmental environment in which clients can process and verbalize personal insight and awareness of their issues. - When appropriate, provide consultation to clinical teams based on specific areas of expertise/training. - Documents inpatient hospital group forms within established time parameters and in accordance with hospital procedures. - Follows all established unit and clinical protocols. - Reviews and contributes to specified program's Group Resources Manual, which details group descriptions, goals, methods, and resources. - Maintains contact with other clinical staff and unit leadership through participation in rounds, staff meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings, treatment planning meetings, and other meetings as necessary. - Consults with program staff in development of skills training groups. - Alerts appropriate staff (e.g. Nurse Director, Medical and/or Clinical Director, Treatment Teams) of emergent clinical issues that occur during group sessions. - Participates in group therapy training opportunities when required. - Reports to Inpatient Group Therapy Coordinator for supervision and Director of Inpatient Group Therapy for performance evaluations.
Qualifications
Requirements Masters and OT license. Previous Group and individual therapy experience preferred.
