Job Summary
General Overview: We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at the Ambulatory Surgery Department. Reporting to the Team Leader Sterile Processing and Materials, the Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including receiving, decontamination, re-sterilization, and maintaining essential inventory.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Sterile Processing Technician, your responsibilities will include:
• Receiving, disassembling, inspecting, and preparing equipment and instruments for cleaning and processing.
• Cleaning, sterilizing, and assembling materials, wrapping kits, and operating sterilizers.
• Maintaining detailed documentation logs of reprocessed instruments and equipment.
• Cleaning and maintaining used articles returned from patient areas.
• Assisting with inventory management and reordering of supplies.
• Preparing preference cards and picking supplies and instrumentation for surgical cases.
• Collaborating with OR staff to ensure equipment/instrumentation readiness.
Customer Service Responsibilities: To excel in this role, you must convey compassion, show respect for others, be attentive to their needs, collaborate effectively, and act professionally. You'll need to be emotionally self-aware and prioritize safety for both patients and staff. Ambulatory Surgical Center
Responsibilities: You will work collaboratively with surgeons and the medical director to meet the needs and priorities of ambulatory surgical patients,
contributing to our high-quality performance and efficiency standards.
Working Conditions: This role involves working around mechanical equipment in noisy, humid conditions and handling contaminated equipment. Safety precautions are essential to minimize potential risks.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least Three (3) years direct experience performing all Sterile Processing functions within an operative setting.
• Certificate: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs., stoop, bend, pull, and place/retrieve materials.
