Purpose/Introduction
There is an immediate opening for an Instrument/Electrical Team Leader - Instrumentation at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC's Pasadena Plastics Complex. This position is responsible for providing instrumentation maintenance support services for the entire Pasadena Plastics Complex. The successful candidate will provide direct supervision of 6 or more company instrument mechanics and will work closely with operations personnel, maintenance planners, and support all craft supervisors to ensure that scheduled maintenance work is accomplished in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
Advocate for safety including demonstrated support of Tenets of Operation and Process Safety Management initiatives
Perform or participate in Job Safety Analyses and the development of safety action plans for high-risk work
Assign and direct work activities to meet schedule requirements and emergent operational issues
Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in compliance with company standards and all applicable environmental safety laws
Daily reporting on schedule compliance and execution
Develop weekly and daily maintenance schedules
Communicate work assignments to instrument mechanics and contractors
Conduct daily and monthly safety meetings for company instrument mechanics
Responsibilities (continued)
Audit the performance of contractors for both quality and safety
Develop and administer craft training for company instrument mechanics
Review drawings and provide feedback to project engineers on design and installation of new equipment
Performs weekend duty as assigned
Coach and develop assigned employees to maximize their potential
Lead and manage change within the maintenance organization and the Pasadena Plastics Complex
Supervise maintenance electrical personnel as needed
Address and resolve difficult employee issues promptly
Assign work and lead crafts during turnarounds and outages as necessary
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of petrochemical industry experience OR a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with at least 5 years of petrochemical industry experience
Must demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, written and verbal skills
Provide technical expertise to solve field instrumentation issues
Knowledge of Delta V DCS systems, Triconex, Rosemount transmitters, Fisher control valves, Micro Motion meters and PLC's
Must have above average computer skills to manage the daily schedule, write material requisitions and service requisitions, and create work orders in a computer maintenance system (SAP)
Must be proficient in reading and understanding design documents such as P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, schematics, etc.
Must work effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering and plant management, and be able to communicate technical concepts to engineers and non-engineers (peers, manager, vendors, consultants and customers)
Must be a self-starter, should have the ability to multi-task and possess good organization and time management skills. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent leadership and communication skills and must demonstrate the ability to interact well with others
Ability to work turnarounds and outages as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in a Labor Union represented environment
Knowledge and/or experience with electrical maintenance in a manufacturing facility
