Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning and Data Analysis, the Data Analyst is an integral part of the Finance and Administration Team responsible for data gathering, analysis, modeling, and reporting design that yields solutions to support the Raymond A. Mason School of Business's data-driven decision-making. The Data Analyst will focus on data quality and data governance while working closely with leadership and nontechnical colleagues to implement predictive modeling, reporting, and data integrity policies and procedures that inform data-driven strategies across the school.The Data Analyst will work to develop and enhance new predictive models from databases including those pertaining to CRM systems, academic programs, and financial databases. These models will inform decisions for enrollment and program strategies across the school. The Data Analyst is also responsible for updating and maintaining code, developing and documenting data methodologies and metrics, and promoting process and data improvement.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Gathering and analyzing data requirements and data flows across systems and transforming data requirements into data models.
Translating and architecting gathered requirements into visualizations.
Developing dashboards and reporting methodologies and training end-users in their use.
Developing and presenting reports that are understandable by non-technical users, enabling stakeholders to make important decisions based on facts and trends.
Recommending re-engineered business processes and/or system modifications and supporting data governance strategies.
Teaching data management and data governance best practices across all Mason School of Business units.
Conditions of Employment:
This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional overnight and weekend work, and/or overnight travel, as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of applied statistics, business intelligence, and information systems; advanced practical/applied experience with relational data structures, databases, and data management principles, and knowledge of SQL programming, and standard data management operating processes and expectations.
Demonstrated ability to provide reporting, predictive analytics, and other data solutions to answer questions or offer forecasting data for enrollment and other operational performance metrics.
Experience in building and using relational databases and large data sets, using query tools to create and improve reports.
Experience conducting and documenting needs assessments related to data requests.
Experience with converting data results into data stories to ensure accurate end-user interpretation of results.
Advanced proficiency using Excel and PowerPoint for presentations.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members to effectively support business users in a professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in data science, data analytics, or business administration.
Progressively responsible experience as a statistician or reporting analyst in a higher education or non-profit environment (typically 2 years).
Experience working with the Ellucian Suite or other enterprise-wide systems. (Examples: Banner, Salesforce, Slate, Blackbaud, Learning Management Tools).
Experience using SQL Developer; as well as Qlik, SAS, or similar enterprise reporting tools.
Experience with data definition development, data modeling, data quality, and organizational alignment.
Experience presenting analytics outcomes to senior management and the ability to elicit cooperation across multiple levels of an organization.
