The Associate Chief Research Administrator (ACRA) works closely with the Chief Academic and Research Officer (CARO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Department of Medicine (DOM) and shares overall responsibility for Departmental research administration.
Job Description
The Department of Medicine sponsored research activities totals $165 M in direct expenditures annually across 12 divisions ($231 M total expenditures) along with significant non-grant funds that are included in funding research programs (gifts, endowments, and unrestricted funds). The Associate Chief Research Administrator (ACRA) works closely with the Chief Academic and Research Officer (CARO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Department of Medicine (DOM) and shares overall responsibility for Departmental research administration. Services emanating from the Department and for which the ACRA has responsibility include clinical research administration, sponsored programs administration (including pre-award proposal preparation, support to department finance (for post-award research fund management), research and fiscal compliance operations, technology transfer, animal care/use, and information technology systems supporting research. This position is responsible for fostering relationships across PSOM departments that are integral to the planning execution and monitoring of research activities (Research Services, Office of Clinical Research, Office of General Counsel, and Office of the Vice Dean for Finance and Operations).
The ACRA provides leadership responsibility for the pre-and post-award service and support activities of administrators located within the divisions conducting research within the department.
Master's degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience demonstrating competencies to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position required.
