The General Manager - Sales will assist and lead specific operational and commercial initiatives to accelerate progress against the business development, profit improvement and growth strategy. This is a high skill position requiring the effective management of aggregate and asphalt sales and customer service to both internal and external customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support and continue to drive the current company sales strategies; uphold corporate standards, drive new sales, increase market share and profits.
Perform regular performance reviews and develop stretch performance and development goals.
Assist in developing strategic plans and overall strategic vision.
Participate in the demand forecast process. Review and monitor weekly and update monthly.
Interact regularly with operations and other lines of business to ensure products are available to meet customer demand and to be aware of any internal/external conditions that may impact sales and/or the customer.
Continually evaluate the market, maintain awareness of the competitive environment and profitable status of each account.
Create and maintain statistical market data and overall market intelligence for the group.
Prepare and present market results, forecast, and overall health in financial and performance reviews.
Generate and report accurate backlogs for both aggregate and asphalt.Identify opportunities to grow the customer base and prepare action plans to convert sales prospects into new accounts.
Conduct presentations and discussions to promote the products/ company/ industry.
Conduct visits to ongoing projects to understand product applications and to help in developing strong customer relationships.
Participate in local marketing events.
Identify and resolve client concerns should any arise.
Travel extensively within the market areas as necessary to support and foster the customer relationship.
Perform other duties as directed. Must be committed to providing and promoting a safe work environment.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in marketing, business management, finance, or other technical discipline
10+ years of experience in marketing/sales and/or business development with a specific focus on building materials.
The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills with particular strengths in the areas of financial modeling, manufacturing, sales & operations as well as manage complex projects from concept through completion.
MBA degree strongly preferred, equivalent work experience considered
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully the employee should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), a basic knowledge of Viewpoint.
