Summary
The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining state-of-the-art data systems and platforms for real-time data streaming and analytics. This position requires deep expertise in building scalable data architectures, implementing complex ETL pipelines, and optimizing cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in big data technologies, data security, and data visualization, driving data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to best practices in data privacy, security, and compliance with organizational policies.
Conduct end-to-end analyses, from data acquisition and processing to the delivery of insights via dashboards and reports.
Resolve complex data pipeline issues and drive continuous improvements in data architecture.
Maintain and improve underlying data systems, working with stakeholders to meet evolving business needs.
Lead and mentor junior team members, providing guidance on best practices in data engineering and data architecture.
Lead the design, orchestration, and optimization of complex data pipelines, focusing on real-time data processing and cost-effective cloud resource management.
Architect scalable data solutions using big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
Implement advanced data governance frameworks, ensuring robust security measures such as row-level and column-level security for sensitive data.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and build internal tools and applications that support business intelligence and operational analysis.
Drive the development of data visualization strategies and enterprise-scale dashboards to enable data-driven decision-making at a strategic level.
Optimize the performance and cost-efficiency of cloud-based data storage and processing systems.
Oversee the integration of data systems with third-party vendors and evaluate new tools to enhance data capabilities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
3+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or related roles.
Expertise in designing and developing complex data architectures and scalable systems.
Strong proficiency in data streaming, real-time data processing, and big data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark).
Advanced skills in programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, C++, Ruby, and SQL.
Familiarity with modern database technologies such as BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, or similar.
Deep understanding of data security practices, including row-level and column-level security.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Experience working with data visualization tools to communicate insights to business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Palantir, Kafka, or similar data processing and orchestration tools.
Relevant certifications in data engineering, cloud technologies, or big data platforms.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and leadership levels.
Special Skills
Ability to lead data architecture reviews and provide guidance on best practices in data engineering.
Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented with a focus on execution and meeting deadlines.
Experience in driving data-driven culture and improving analytics capabilities across an organization.
