ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Institute for School - Community Partnership, Integrated Services and Child Mental Health and Educational Policy (ISCP), which is part of the College of Education, envisions that all schools in the state of Florida and nationally will have the capacity to provide a safe, effective, and efficient environment to continuously improve the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students and to actively engage families and communities in education. The ISCP's nearly $23 million budget is derived from grants from federal, state and private sources. It is the mission of the ISCP to implement and evaluate research-based and innovative practices in school and community settings. This accomplished through (a) training, technical assistance, and support to key partners; (b) community-engaged research and program evaluation to inform key partners' decision making; (c) the development of research and evidence-based documents, tools, and resources to support implementation and evaluation activities; and (d) supporting the infrastructure and capacity of key partners to implement and evaluate federal and state educational policy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of the Bureau of School Improvement reports directly to the State Executive Director of School Improvement and the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Improvement at the FDOE. The responsibilities of this position include providing supervision and leadership for the bureau in the following areas: policy, technical assistance, training, and guidance for the school improvement and Title I, Part D programs, dropout prevention and academic intervention programs, as well as juvenile justice and adult corrections education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration, supervision, and implementation of the School Improvement state system of support and the Every Student Succeeds Act needed to ensure compliance with relevant state laws and federal regulations for these programs.
Manage the Continuous Improvement Management Systems for School Improvement Plans, School Improvement Resources, and School Improvement Grants.
Direct and administer technical technical assistance and tiered support to school districts and other agencies related to these programs.
Coordinate and facilitates all interagency activities related to these programs; represent the Bureau in designated Department work groups; and participate as a member of the division of strategic improvement leadership team representing the interests and needs of these programs.
Direct the monitoring of school districts and schools for Title I, Part D use of funds and school improvement funds.
Present bureau and department updates at regional meetings and statewide conferences.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the program responsibilities and seven years of professional experience; or Master's degree and five years of professional experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
3-5 years in school improvement, educational policy or grants management.
