Position Summary: The EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Analyst is responsible for the successful deployment, integration, and ongoing support of EMR systems and patient portals. This role involves working closely with healthcare providers and internal teams to ensure that the EMR and portal systems are configured, customized, and implemented to meet the specific needs of the organization and its patients.
EMR and P ortal Setup & Configuration
Collaborate with healthcare providers and stakeholders to gather requirements and understand workflows for both EMR and patient portal systems.
Configure EMR software and patient portals to meet the specific needs of the organization, including setting up new clients, health centers, user access, workflows, templates, and reporting functionalities.
Customize and optimize EMR modules and portal features according to healthcare practices and patient management requirements.
Implementation & Integration
Lead the end-to-end implementation process of EMR and portal systems, ensuring smooth deployment and integration with existing healthcare systems (e.g., lab systems, billing, registration, and pharmacy systems).
Work with the IT and development teams to ensure seamless data migration from legacy systems to the new EMR system.
Ensure proper integration between the EMR system and external systems (e.g., billing, appointment scheduling, lab results) to maintain smooth information flow.
Testing & Quality Assurance
Conduct rigorous testing of the EMR and portal systems, including functional testing, data integrity checks, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure all components work as intended.
Address any issues identified during testing and ensure all bugs or system discrepancies are resolved before the go-live phase.
Work closely with clients to ensure that the system is aligned with clinical workflows and patient management processes.
Post-Implementation Support
Provide ongoing support post-implementation, addressing issues, troubleshooting errors, and performing system updates as necessary.
Assist healthcare providers in optimizing the use of EMR and portal systems to improve operational efficiency and patient care.
Ensure all data privacy, security, and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA) are met in the implementation and ongoing usage of the systems.
Documentation & Reporting
Document all system configurations, customizations, and integration workflows for future reference and troubleshooting.
Prepare and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and status reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
Track project milestones and ensure timely delivery of all implementation tasks according to agreed schedules.
Collaboration & Communication:
Act as the primary liaison between the client and internal teams, including IT, developers, and support staff.
Communicate effectively with healthcare stakeholders, gathering feedback on the implementation and providing updates on progress.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, refine processes, and improve the overall implementation experience.
Continuous Improvement & Best Practices:
Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in EMR systems and patient portal technology.
Identify areas for system enhancement and work with development teams to improve system functionality and performance.
Advocate for continuous improvement in workflows and processes related to patient data management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in EMR (Electronic Medical Records), or healthcare IT system implementation.
Experience working with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athena, eClinicalWorks) and/or patient portal solutions.
Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, data management, and HIPAA compliance.
Familiarity with integration techniques for healthcare applications (HL7, FHIR, etc.).
Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Athena) or healthcare IT.
Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile).
Familiarity with healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA, HITECH, and other patient privacy laws.
Experience in patient portal administration and integration with EMR systems.
Pay Range: $90,000 - $115,000/yr
