Under continuous supervision, learns to perform cardiac scanning following professional technical standards and SRH protocols to produce medically useful cardiac images (i.e. echos). Performs patient screening for echo exams. As the Intern gains cardiac sonography exam skills, as documented by the educational program, performs routine echocardiograms under general supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Executes basic clinical competence in cardiac sonography, in all locations, across all patient types. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
Applies knowledge of cardiac sonography principles and practices, commensurate with progress in 1000+ hours of clinical internship, including anatomy and physiology, physics, patient positioning and patient care skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal, organizational and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Engages in patient screening process for cardiac sonography. Maintains supplies and inventory in area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors. Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems in accordance with policy. Follows equipment quality control procedures with appropriate documentation.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
A single two-year allied health education program that is patient-care related (include but not limited to medical sonographer, radiographic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, registered nurse, surgical technicians
Bachelor's degree with the successful completion of a graded general, medical, or sonographic physics class/seminar/ or course.
No sonographer experience required
Certifications & Licensures
Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification - Required
