puPURPOSES SPECIFIC TO THE POSITION/u/p pTo support the Cooperative's mission by providing effective leadership and oversight for the Cooperative's engineering functions, including the planning, design, and implementation of electric power systems and infrastructure to support the reliable and efficient distribution of electric energy./p puRELATIONSHIPS/u/p ul liuReports/unbsp;to Vice President of Engineering and Operations./li liuDirects/unbsp;- Various Engineers, Substation, Metering, and Communications Technicians, and other personnel as assigned./li liuCooperates and coordinates/unbsp;with all persons, within or outside the Cooperative, and with all firms, organizations, consultants and other groups as deemed necessary to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the position./li /ul puPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS/u/p ul liRequires a thorough understanding and advanced knowledge of electric power systems, including transmission, substations, and distribution./li liRequires a relevant Bachelor's degree and electrical engineering license./li liRequires ability to communicate effectively with other personnel, groups/departments, consultants and vendors, and exercise problem solving and creativity./li liRequires ability to utilize Microsoft office applications and other computer and mobile device software and applications./li liRequires the ability to interpret and utilize various information and models./li liRequires strong project management, budgeting, and resource allocation skills./li liA minimum of ten years of relevant industry experience is strongly preferred./li liA minimum of three years of relevant leadership experience is strongly preferred./li liRequires willingness and ability to work in a constant state of alertness and focus due to the role's impact on employee and public safety./li /ul puRESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES/u/p ul liPlans and assigns work to best utilize resources./li liEnsures compliance with all Cooperative rules, regulations, and safe practices./li liAssesses (and addresses when necessary) employee performance, assists in the hiring of employees, and recommends promotions, terminations, or other personnel changes within operational policy./li liSupports the operations, maintenance, and construction functions within the Cooperative by providing technical and engineering support, including occasional after-hours calls./li liAttends and actively participates in various meetings./li liDirects the planning and/or design for the Cooperative's electric plant, including any required cost estimates, permits, easements, project administration, or contracts necessary to complete projects./li liDirects the maintenance of engineering records./li liStays up to date on industry trends, technologies, and best practices./li liPerforms other duties as requested or required by the position./li /ul pemWe provide equal opportunities to all applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability, in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
