Job Description:

We are a long-established electric motor manufacturing plant on the east side of Houston, TX in the 77020-zip code. This position works independently alongside production to implement quality assurance and safety programs under the direction of operations management. The Quality/ Safety manager serves as an internal lead to define, administer, and develop quality assurance and safety programs and practices designed to drive standardization and ultimately high-quality results as well as fostering a safe work environment. This position requires the ability to audit existing processes/ procedures to continually improve the quality of our product and ensure that the quality and safety systems are fully implemented and monitored. Solid judgement and resourcefulness are needed to effectively deal with multiple, highly variable factors and conflicting priorities of various departments and customers. The quality manager/ safety interacts with all levels of the company. Responsibilities encompass but are not confined to:

Role and Responsibilities:

-Ensure that the organization's quality management system conforms to customer, internal, ISO 9001, and regulatory/ legal requirements with or without direct supervision.

-Assists with enhancing quality management systems and safety standards focusing on customer satisfaction, business process standardization, reliability, and effectiveness.

-Oversee inspection of incoming materials, ensuring that they meet requirements.

-Responsible for accuracy and timely inspection/ calibration of monitoring and measuring devices.

-Manage the monitoring, measurements, and review of internal processes, especially those that affect the quality of the organization's products.

-Lead a team of quality inspectors, auditors, and technicians.

-Report to top management on the performance of the Quality Management System (QMS) (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement.

-Develop and implement quality systems, internal and operating procedures, and approvals to comply with ISO 9001, ATEX, customer and other regulatory requirements.

-Conduct periodic management review meetings.

-Define and document processes and controls.

-Provide measurable skill training for employees and evaluation of these skills.

-Oversee product recalls.

-Represent the company in client quality surveys and 3rd party inspections.

-Keep up on standards, regulations/laws, issues, and news with respect to product quality.

-Train staff in proper production practices and basic quality assessment.

-Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, vendor quality systems.

-Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.

-Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety.

-Evaluating practices, procedures, and facilities to asses' risk

-Perform safety training and new employee orientation and lead the regular safety training sessions.

-Other administrative tasks as needed.

Required Skills:

-Comprehensive understanding of quality management systems and the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

-Must have a thorough knowledge of practices and methods for developing and administering a comprehensive EHS program, including designing employee EH&S training programs.

-Must be proficient in performing EH&S assessments to identify workplace hazards and determining appropriate control measures.

- Must have a broad knowledge of the methods and practices for conducting accident and workplace safety audits and investigations required.

-Must demonstrate an extensive technical understanding of environmental health and safety principles, concepts, theories, regulations, and practices; and comprehensive leadership skills including organizing, planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadline or milestones; and the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.

-Must possess the ability to identify, analyze, interpret, and resolve unusually complex management and technical problems.

-Excellent verbal and written communication management, to accurately document, report, and present findings.

-The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

- Experience writing technical business policies, procedures, and reports.

-US Citizenship

Preferred Education/ Experience:

-Associate degree in safety or related field or equivalent work experience.

-5 years of quality and/or safety management experience.

-ISO 9001 Certified Auditor or Auditor experience

-Certification in quality improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, TQM)

-Proficient in MS Office products.

-Occasional travel required.
