The Junior Software Engineer will be joining an agile technology team, and is focused on building and operating various domains such as digital channels and call centers for clients and consumers. The role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining APIs that connect critical systems and ensure smooth operations across the ecosystem. They actively participate in project and team planning meetings and collaborates with business and other IT teams.
The Software Engineer is a member of one or two projects at a time, may lead one small project at a time, and occasionally participates in cross-team integrations and projects. With minimal oversight, they maintain a strong and consistent personal velocity, accomplishes nearly all work tasks in a timely manner, escalates early when tasks are off schedule, and estimate work tasks accurately in most cases. They understand, negotiate, and apply work priorities based on roadmap and tactical needs. They thoroughly vet work requirements and helps refine them to fulfill the intent of the requirements.
Essential Functions
Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs using C# and .NET frameworks.
Reads specifications and writes code and unit tests using patterns and languages approved by Technical Lead and Architect; adhere to best practices and end-user requirements
Collaborates with Product Owner, UX, analysts, QA, and other software engineers to make changes to an application for defect fixes, enhancements, and new features; demonstrates business knowledge by actively participating and providing relevant suggestions and insight.
Participates in the design process that generates application functional and technical specifications (JAD, Three Amigos)
Refactors code related to current work; optimization, restructuring, improved readability, reduced complexity, and improving unit tests
Performs system analysis for current state application operation and upcoming application enhancements
Additional Responsibilities
Actively participates in Scrum ceremonies, estimation, and team meetings
Documents application design specifications and implementation procedures to improve application quality and reuse of code
Reviews other developers' pull requests for approval or suggest improvements
Performs production support or on-call operations through monitoring, notification and job/service management
Improves monitoring and alerting for applications to improve support response and operations
Develops proof of concepts (POC) to evaluate new solutions and technology
Investigates incidents and defects in current state application to identify fixes
Participates in root cause analysis (RCA) with other teams after production incidents to determine improvements
Develops implementation plans, deployment plans, and release/change plans; validates production changes after release
Implements tooling to report and improve security, unit test coverage, and other factors
Ensures security guidelines, compliance, and other business standards are followed to support the application
May assist in training and on boarding of new developers
Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Proficiency Level
Proficiency in C# and .NET frameworks.
Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies.
Familiarity of cloud-based platforms and container services (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools, preferably Azure DevOps
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Working knowledge of SQL and databases
Experience in web development and responsive design
Familiarity of Vue.JS/Knockout/Bootstrap or equivalent frameworks
Experience with Agile/Scrum practices and has worked within a product team
