Position Overview Teliax, a pioneer in telecommunications, seeks a highly skilled Director of IT - Networking to lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's networking infrastructure. This critical role ensures reliable and secure data communication across Teliax's global systems by managing routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and more. The successful candidate will combine technical mastery in modern and legacy network technologies with leadership skills to drive operational excellence and innovation. This position has the potential to be remote with the candidate expected to travel periodically to our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Network Architecture & Implementation:
Design and implement scalable network infrastructure to support Teliax's operations.
Deploy and manage network devices, including Cisco IOS and Junos-based routers and switches.
Manage the hybrid public/private infrastructure-as-a-service network topology, including GCP, AWS and various hypervisor stacks such as QEMU/KVM.
Network Operations & Maintenance:
Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network performance, minimizing downtime and ensuring uptime targets are met.
Oversee configurations for VLANs, VPNs (WireGuard, IPsec, OpenVPN), and IGP/EGP protocols (e.g., BGP, ISIS, OSPF).
Legacy Systems Support:
Manage and maintain legacy network systems, including SS7 and TDM protocols, to support specific operational needs.
VoIP Systems:
Support VoIP infrastructure, with a preference for experience in software tools such as Homer and VoIPmonitor.
Security & Monitoring:
Implement robust security measures across the network to safeguard data and infrastructure using Prometheus and Grafana.
Utilize tools like tcpdump and ngrep for network traffic analysis and troubleshooting.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Lead and mentor the networking team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Collaborate with other IT and business teams to align networking initiatives with organizational goals.
Required Skills and Experience
Technical Expertise:
Advanced knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, and IGP protocols (ISIS, OSPF).
Proficiency in VLANs, VPN configurations, and routing protocols.
Strong understanding of wireless networking technologies, including:
5G NSA (Non-Standalone Architecture): Expertise in integrating 5G networks with existing LTE infrastructure.
Knowledge of 5G core architecture, including AMF, SMF, UPF, and gNB configurations.
Familiarity with key protocols like N2, N3, and NG interfaces for 5G NSA environments.
Understanding of LTE and EPC (Evolved Packet Core) interactions in hybrid 4G/5G networks.
Experience with wireless access technologies, including Wi-Fi 6 and small cell deployment for network densification.
Legacy Systems:
Solid understanding of SS7, TDM protocols, and their application in modern and legacy networks.
VoIP Systems:
Familiarity with VoIP architecture and troubleshooting, with specific knowledge of Homer and/or VoIPmonitor being a strong advantage.
Linux Systems Administration:
Proficiency in Linux server environments with experience using tools such as tcpdump and ngrep for network diagnostics.
Leadership:
Proven ability to lead a technical team and manage complex networking projects.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years in networking roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing both wired and wireless network solutions.
