Job Summary:

Avid is seeking an experienced a Senior Firewall Engineer / Network Security to support one of our customers, which is a large Government agency. The ideal candidate will possess at least 8 years of experience designing and/or deploying and supporting the customer's perimeter and internal firewalls.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Firewall Implementation and Support
  • Installing and troubleshooting managed Network Solutions including CheckPoint, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto and cloud firewalls.
  • Making changes to firewalls in support of internal customers' needs.
  • Solving technical customer issues in the area of firewalls, filtering, IP Networking, Routing, VPNs, and application connectivity.
  • Respond to firewall/network issues on a rotating on-call basis. This will, depending on the situation, may require work outside the traditional work hours, including weekends and holidays, and will require carrying and responding to a cell phone or other contact device, as determined by management.
  • Monitor performance, capacity, and availability of the network devices including firewalls on an ongoing basis.
  • Recommend improvements in technologies and practices to increase these metrics.
  • Work with other technical staff to develop firewall deployment design, monitoring, and documenting implementation.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience designing and/or deploying security architectures, including NGFWs
  • Senior Level Firewall Engineer with extensive experience with:
  • Check Point Virtual Firewall (Maestro)
  • Check Point Cloud Firewall
  • Check Point Firewall Expertise (versions R80 and above)
  • Cisco ASA's and Palo Alto experience
  • Strong NGFW experience
  • Zscaler Proxy (ZIA) product expertise
  • Experience with site to site VPN, remote access VPN
  • Extensive knowledge of Checkpoint firewalls including deployment, upgrades, patches, VPN creation and management, policy management and trouble shooting on GAIA IPSO and SPLAT platforms. Experience with R80 or higher preferred. Knowledge of Cisco ASA/PIX & Fortinet, including policy management and VPN creation and management and trouble shooting.
  • Ability to implement related technologies and understand their dependencies in complex enterprise environments
  • Ability to proactively collaborate across internal, customer, and key partner teams
  • Ability to lead and provide strategic vision to large technical teams on complex projects
  • Ability to troubleshoot remotely.
  • Ability to work with customers and vendors IT teams to trouble shoot complex issues.
  • Ability to work with internal teams to roll out new projects and trouble shoot issues.

Education, Certifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years Check Point firewall administration experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Network trouble shooting and management experience.
  • Preferred CheckPoint CCSE or CCSM certifications..
