Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Curriculum and Training, this Senior Curriculum Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the development and delivery of training that addresses the needs of community development organizations. The key areas of focus include:
  • Content Area Leadership: Manage up to three tracks of curricula, including affordable housing development, construction, and rehabilitation, while identifying and addressing new trends and issues in the field.
  • Program Delivery: Plan and oversee the execution of in-person and online training formats, including National and Virtual Training Institutes, Place-Based Training, webinars, and self-guided courses.
  • Faculty Management: Recruit, manage, and evaluate a diverse pool of 25+ independent consultants, ensuring high-quality curriculum development and training delivery through relationship management and performance feedback.
  • Learning Path Strategies: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for multiple learning paths across managed content areas, incorporating emerging trends and needs.
  • Program Enhancement: Strengthen the Professional Certificate Program and Micro-Credential offerings to maximize their value and relevance to participants.
  • Grant Management: Oversee grant-related activities, including writing proposals, budgeting, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Quality Assurance and Improvement: Continuously improve course content, teaching methodologies, and instructor performance using participant feedback and data analytics.

Nature of Work Contacts:

The Sr. Manager, Curriculum and Content Evaluator will work with training participants and professional certificate candidates, NeighborWorks® America staff, independent faculty consultants, potential consultants, and representatives from partner and potential partner organizations. Senior Curriculum Managers are expected to be able to work independently to manage their curricula and faculty consultants in addition to working under the general direction of the Director, Curriculum and Training.

Fiscal Responsibilities:

Procurement responsibilities related to engaging faculty consultants and vendors. Responsible for managing individual budgets and outside fund contract budgets as requested.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of (2) years of experience working as a staff member of a community-based organization, community development corporation, or public or private sector community development program with areas of responsibility in affordable housing development, and construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing
  • In-depth knowledge of single-family and multifamily real estate development, finance, and programs like the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), as well as shared equity and manufactured housing models.
  • Understanding of community-based nonprofits, affordable housing development in urban and rural contexts, green building practices, and residential real estate lending.
  • Proficiency in designing, managing, and delivering in-person and online training using participatory methods and adult learning principles strong preferred.
  • Skilled in creating work plans, budgets, deliverables, and narratives; coordinating with stakeholders; and managing relationships to achieve project goals.
  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation abilities, with exceptional attention to detail, effective time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Course Management and Development: Tenured experience managing the creation, revision, and enhancement of courses and workshops, ensuring adherence to curriculum standards and employing sound adult education methodologies.
  • 2-4 years of experience in content development, training, or management of subject matter experts.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel up to 25%
  • Fast paced working environment, with extensive computer use and technological communication.
  • Hybrid: this role reports to the office two days per week

Salary Range: $95,900 - $109,000

The salary offered for the role will be based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, internal equity, and the candidate's qualifications/professional experience.

Purpose of Division:

The Training Division provides nationally recognized training courses, certifications, micro-credentials, and events for affordable housing and community development practitioners. Professionals enroll in our courses and certification programs to receive professional development, credentialing, and continuing education in this field of work. The division offers over 300 courses via in-person and online modes of delivery. Course enrollments exceed 15,000 enrollments yearly with revenue of over $3 million. This position plays a critical role in building out both our in-person and online learning portfolio.
