Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to oversee and manage all aspects of the payroll administration. The Payroll Administrator will ensure that employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance of multi-state payroll processing. The incumbent will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and company policies, as well as maintaining and updating payroll records, resolving discrepancies, and providing payroll-related support to employees.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and complete, bi-weekly multi-state payroll accurately and timely in our HRIS (Workday & ADP). Ensure full compliance with federal, state and local law, as well as regulations related to taxes and payroll withholding procedures.
Analyze automated system output, such as payroll registers, reconcile and correct out-of-balance conditions to ensure approval for the payroll settlement is obtained.
Produce and reconcile advances general ledgers reports to support required accounting activities.
Conduct various required compliance audits and maintain records in accordance with regulatory standards. Respond to government agencies for items such as garnishments, payroll taxes, income withholding orders, employer contributions and tax levies.
Support quarterly and year-end compliance requirements, including tax returns, state specific tax compliance, and amendments.
Ensure submittals are processed timely and accurately to corresponding TPA, including disbursement of employee and employer deferrals into appropriate 401k and HSA elections.
Primary point of contact for payroll-related questions and issues and support and provide employees support in HR topics such as benefits, leaves of absence, and onboarding.
Ensure all payroll and compliance records are maintained in a systematic and organized manner, facilitating easy access and retrieval for audits and other requirements.
Effectively communicate with the HR Team to ensure on-time payment for employees and engage for testing and maintenance activities of payroll and HRIS system.
Support the reconciliation of benefits plans.
Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related field or equivalent work experience.
Highly proficient in MS Office and advanced in Excel.
Minimum 5 years of multi-state payroll processing experience.
Experience in managing state tax compliance is highly desirable.
Experience processing payroll in Workday required.
Experience with ADP/Smart Compliance preferred
Preferred experience in services or project-based industry
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
