Position Overview:

Finatal is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Talent Officer (CTO) / VP Portfolio Talent to join our mid-market private equity (PE) fund. As a key member of the Portfolio Operations team, the CTO / VP will play a critical role in driving the human capital strategy across our portfolio companies. This individual will focus primarily on talent assessment, ensuring we identify, attract, and retain top-tier leadership talent to drive growth and create value within our portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience assessing executive leadership capabilities, designing talent strategies, and partnering with portfolio company leadership to optimize performance. Responsibilities:

Talent Assessment:
  • Lead the evaluation of senior management teams at existing (and potential new) portfolio companies, assessing leadership capabilities, potential, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement a robust talent assessment framework for identifying leadership gaps and opportunities across portfolio companies.
  • Conduct in-depth leadership evaluations during due diligence, providing insights into the quality and risks associated with management teams.

Executive Recruitment:
  • Lead the recruitment and onboarding of senior executives for portfolio companies (leveraging external firms when need be), ensuring alignment with each company's growth strategy and cultural fit.
  • Build and maintain a network of top-tier executive talent for quick access to leadership solutions when needed.

Talent Strategy:
  • Work closely with portfolio company CEOs and senior leaders to develop and execute comprehensive talent strategies that drive performance and growth.
  • Ensure alignment between the talent strategy and the long-term strategic objectives of both the PE fund and individual portfolio companies.
  • Provide guidance on succession planning, leadership development, and organizational design across the portfolio.

Leadership Development:
  • Drive leadership development initiatives, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management programs for senior executives within portfolio companies.
  • Assess and implement executive development programs to enhance leadership effectiveness and address any leadership gaps.

Collaboration with Deal Teams:
  • Partner with the deal teams during the due diligence phase to assess talent risks and opportunities.
  • Provide insights on the human capital aspects of potential acquisitions, including team dynamics, leadership capabilities, and organizational culture.

Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in executive talent assessment, recruitment, or leadership development, preferably within a private equity setting.
• Proven track record of working with C-level executives in assessing and developing leadership teams.
• Strong understanding of private equity value creation and the role of human capital in driving growth.
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience in, succession planning, and executive coaching.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with multiple portfolio companies at different stages of growth.
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
