This is a great opportunity to join a leading IPP who are searching for an experienced Power Trader to join their team as they expand their assets under management. You will be responsible for ERCOT and East Power trading with a focus on ERCOT, PJM, MISO and/or Northeast markets.
Responsibilities
Execute and manage the trading of physical power, focusing primarily on the PJM, MISO, NYISO, and ISO-NE markets.
Conduct in-depth analysis and fundamental research on the Eastern Interconnect and ERCOT to identify opportunities and assess market conditions.
Partner with other team members to share insights, market knowledge, and develop cohesive trading strategies.
Contribute to the training and development of new traders, overseeing their growth and integration into the trading operations.
Work with the Origination team to price and manage structured deals involving physical assets and contracts.
Collaborate with control functions like Compliance, Risk, and Credit to maintain robust governance and ensure the trading desk operates within established control frameworks.
Qualifications
Degree from a leading university with a concentration in Economics, Business, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics.
5+ years of trading experience in physical and financial power, in DA and/or RT markets.
Option, proprietary, and gas trading experience is desirable.
Demonstrated knowledge of power and gas fundamentals.
Demonstrated knowledge of market rules and tariffs.
Demonstrated knowledge of Risk Management principles.
Self-motivated and has the desire to achieve success in a rapidly evolving high-pressure trading environment.
Skills
Power trading experience.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills required.
Programming experience is desirable (Python, VBA, SQL)
Data Science skills are desirable (Tableau, R, Power BI)
