SCF Partners ("SCF"), a private equity firm based in Houston, Texas, seeks candidates for a full-time pre-MBA position. SCF has supported entrepreneurs and provided equity capital and strategic growth assistance to build leaders in the energy services, equipment, and technology industry for over 30 years.
In that time, we've built more than 70 platform service companies, completed more than 300 growth acquisitions, and distributed more than $4.5 billion to our investors. We identify sectors within the energy services industry that have a long-term growth outlook, partner with entrepreneurial leaders in the field, and work together to build market leading companies.
We believe that substantial investment and innovation will be required to support both improvements in and maintenance of traditional energy sources and the development and growth of transitional energy sources and related infrastructure. We plan to invest in building energy service, product, and technology companies in each of these key areas, and expect the mix of our invested capital to evolve to include a larger percentage of transitional investments over time.
We now seek pre-MBA candidates to join our growing team. While we have a presence in Houston, Calgary, Aberdeen, and Australia, and the role may involve significant travel, this position will be based in our Houston office. The expected duration of this role is 2-3 years in advance of an MBA program or a role in a portfolio company; top performers may have the opportunity to build a career at SCF.
In this role, you will be expected to:
Assess new investment opportunities
Support the execution of deal processes from start to finish, including valuation, negotiation, customer outreach, due diligence, and bank financing
Support existing portfolio companies with financial, operational, and M&A analysis
Interface on a daily basis with SCF investment professionals, portfolio company CEOs, CFOs, and directors, and senior members of investment banking, law, and consulting firms
Attend and participate in each meeting of our investment committee
Explore and develop new investment themes with our investment professionals
Think critically about global energy markets and emerging trends
Learn quickly
Key qualifications include:
1-2 years experience in investment banking or another similar role
Proficiency in financial modeling
Effective communication (written/verbal/graphic) and interpersonal skills
Deep interest in both traditional energy sources and opportunities in the energy transition
Quantitative aptitude, as demonstrated by undergraduate GPA and standardized test scores
Work ethic, maturity, and ability to take initiative
Compensation will include salary, and an annual bonus based upon performance. We are accepting applications for candidates able to begin work in summer 2025.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, national origin or any other category protected by law.
