The Warehouse & Distribution Logistics Lead works with the W&D Staff in managing the daily operations associated with the processing of customer orders, analyzing inventory demands, communicating with carriers, and assisting with daily transportation functions. The Lead will act as back-up to the Transportation Assistant Manager as well as collaborate with the Transportation Assistant Manager and staff to build and maintain a positive work environment. This position will assist in improving processes to minimize costs associated with shipments, receipts and inventory management. Primary responsibilities include:
Perform all customer order processing transactions, analyze inventory demands, and process the daily carrier call-out schedule
Manage carrier performance including scheduling, score carding, and related follow-up with carrier on-time performance
Perform all shipping & receiving administrative duties such as preparing documents for customer orders, maintaining shipment records, documenting all actions in manufacturing systems, inventory management work reports, and carrier performance measures
Facilitate positive interactions with the Customer Service Department on transportation and product availability issues
Delegate work assignments to the staff; oversee tactical day-to-day needs and adjust department staffing as needed; cover vacation for staff as necessary
Provide training to new staff as well as cross-training to existing team members
Collaborate with Transportation Assistant Manager and staff to facilitate Continuous Improvement activities
Analyze work assignments and flow to determine optimal skill-set for each task
Collaborate with SAP Applications Manager and Transportation Assistant Manager to optimize SAP system capabilities
Communicate with carriers regarding service and/or shipping issues
Maintain clean and orderly work area and ensure all interfaces with the company are treated to a high level of customer service
Perform customer order activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness in the duties associated with completing customer order shipments on time
Review the shipping schedule to determine priorities and methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules
Support the elimination of out of stock on bonded and tax-paid inventory as it relates to the customer order ship dates
Complete cycle count work assignments
Daily on-going job assignments as required
Position Skills Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
Strong working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems
A minimum of 1-3 years relevant experience, preferably with a focus on Transportation systems in a manufacturing distribution environment,
Strong Knowledge of transportation, warehousing, inventory management in the spirits or CPG sector.
Experience with warehouse management system, particularly SAP
Strong Microsoft Office skills required, particularly in Excel
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), along with strong organizational and planning skills
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, ability to coordinate effectively with other personnel and external customers as required
Demonstrated ability to function successfully in a fast paced, changing work environment
