Reports to: Director of Manufacturing
Responsibilities: • Has a thorough understanding of our company's materials, supplies, facilities, equipment, and service requirements. Assists less experienced Sourcing Agents by providing beneficial information, as necessary. • Has a thorough understanding of our company's procurement requirements and works effectively with Suppliers to meet the company's needs in the most efficient and economical way. • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with assigned Suppliers to help them gain an understanding of our businesses, organization, and needs. • Develops effective relationships with appropriate internal company resources to be able to effectively serve their needs. • Establishes primary and secondary supplier sources when necessary. • Negotiates the best possible price, quality and service guarantees with Suppliers to meet the company's requirements in accordance with established Sourcing policies and procedures, and establishes payment terms favorable to the company. • Negotiates blanket purchase orders, when appropriate, and monitors costs. • Inputs purchase orders into the system. Reviews and tracks the status of orders, validates the accuracy of goods and services received, approves payments to Suppliers, communicates with internal company resources and the Supplier regarding the need for any changes. Effectively serves as a liaison to develop solutions to any procurement issues. • Assists less experienced Sourcing Agents with more complex issues. • Keeps the supervisor aware in a timely manner of changes in Supplier performance, any industry trends that are observed through the regular interaction with Suppliers, and any issues needing the supervisor's involvement. • Maintains timely and accurate records and reports, as required.
Requirements • High school education is required. Some college education in a related field is preferred. Has the necessary training to be proficient in the position. • Has at least two years of experience with the company fully meeting the expectations of a Purchasing Clerk or two years of directly related and successful experience within another company function or organization. • Has excellent communications and interpersonal skills to be able to interact effectively with Suppliers and internal company resources. • Has excellent computer skills and is proficient with all related company systems and programs. • Has effective analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Effective time management skills in prioritizing and addressing multiple and at times conflicting demands. • High energy with a sense of urgency in responding to procurement needs. • High level of personal and professional integrity. • Is committed to the company's values. • Attention to detail in maintaining required records and reports.
