Role: Formulation lab technician • Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? Yes, cholinesterase and pinoxaden monitoring • Will non-local/remote candidates be considered? - No - must work onsite all days. • Chemistry Technical Degree mandatory: Bachelor's Degree.
The incumbent will provide technical support in the formulations development laboratory through hands-on experimentation and documentation of results. Additionally, this role has non-laboratory aspect as well involving preparation of documentation to support update in system.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides technical support to the formulation development scientists through the preparation of formulation samples and testing of formulation samples for physical properties. • Prepares formulation samples with minimum supervision using standard processing equipment such as bead mills, high shear mixers, air jet mills, blenders etc. • Independently evaluates formulation samples for physical properties and is proficient in the use of laboratory instruments such as laser diffraction particle size analyzers, rheometers, density meters, pH meters etc. • Maintains laboratory equipment and instruments in good working order. • Reports and discusses for any issues related to the lab equipment. • Ensures samples are labeled in compliance with EH&S requirements. • Maintains laboratory notebook and accurately documents all experiments and results. • Document results of experiments as well in report. • Communicates project status in a timely fashion and immediately raises any issues to the project owner. • Maintains a high housekeeping standard in the laboratory. • Understands and follows appropriate EH&S standards, policies and procedures applicable to their job. Leads by example in the area of safety behaviors by promoting safe work habits. • Preparation of necessary documentation to submit for changes/updates for products with attention to detail and strong communication skills necessary. • Communication to necessary stakeholders on status of documentation. • Knowledge and experience with SAP is highly desirable. • 50/50 Split between lab & desk work to start then eventually more lab work as they learn.
Training on equipment and data systems will be provided for the incumbent.
Required Qualifications • No prior formulation experience required, but technical experience in academia or industry is a plus. • Capable of taking action and resolving issues independently is a plus. Performs duties with minimal supervision, actively demonstrates accountability by providing recommendations and/or thorough analysis of options for issues/solutions. • Proficient in tools used within the work process such Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) is helpful. • Experience with SAP is very highly desired as part of this role. • Manager Note: It will be great if the suppliers can note database(s) they have experience.
As far as how they will use SAP, they will be navigating/utilizing the tool to locate info. Understanding information hierarchy is important and how it is linked is important aspect (which is how SAP is structured).
Education • Degree in sciences such as chemistry is mandatory. • B.Sc. degree is desired.
