Take your career to the next level with us! R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (R.M. Chin) is seeking a Drainage Engineering Lead with experience in the Chicagoland area. The ideal candidate should have experience preparing highway/roadway and site drainage Phase II plans and reports for IDOT and Tollway clients. This role presents an opportunity to participate in business development and project management. The ideal candidate should have experience leading and managing a team of drainage engineers.
Job Duties:
Manage the preparation of Phase II engineering plans and specifications for design of stormwater management facilities including storm sewer systems, detention facilities, other hydraulic structures, and facilities.
Manage the preparation of Phase I stormwater management studies, including location drainage studies, hydraulic reports, and conceptual drainage studies.
Direct the preparation of drainage design calculations and modeling to support design recommendations.
Assist in the preparation of proposals, scope of services, and contract cost estimates.
Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits required.
Oversee the drainage design group efforts. Communicates with project manager and other team members to coordinate activities and provide information about projects. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment.
Provide oversight to shape drainage design group by hiring junior staff and scheduling training for Design and Construction department staff.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
Requires an Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.
7-15 years of relevant experience.
Experience with hydraulics and hydrology modeling software such as StormCAD, HEC-1, HEC-2, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, WSPRO, XPSWMM, and WinTR-55.
Proficiency with MicroStation required (AutoCAD Civil3D experience a plus.)
Requires experience with Illinois DOT and Illinois Tollway drainage design policies and procedures (County experience a plus.)
Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of project team to complete tasks.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experienced in and fully capable of using the Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Competitive base salary between $135 - 180K, depending on project assignment, experience, skills, and location.
