As a Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in helping us manage finances as we grow from $10M to $20M in revenue. You will oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, ensuring that the company's financial health remains strong while supporting strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, supporting business decisions, and ensuring strong financial performance. Your key responsibilities include:
  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: Develop, implement, and manage annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts. Work closely with department heads to align financial planning with company goals.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Provide detailed reports on financial performance, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow, and present findings to leadership.
  • Cost Control & Profitability Analysis: Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize financial processes to improve profitability. Implement and track cost-control measures across projects and departments.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow forecasting, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet the company's operational and financial obligations. Manage short- and long-term financing as needed.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide actionable insights that inform business strategy and decision-making.
  • Accounting & Compliance: Ensure the company adheres to accounting principles, tax laws, and financial regulations. Oversee accurate and timely accounting processes, including invoicing, payments, and reconciliation.
  • Profitability Enhancement: Work with the operations team to improve project profitability by analyzing project costs, margins, and financial metrics.
  • Audit & Tax Management: Coordinate and manage internal and external audits. Oversee tax compliance and reporting, ensuring timely submission of tax returns and payments.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead the finance team, provide mentorship and training, and ensure alignment with company goals and values.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for a finance expert who is detail-oriented, results-driven, and passionate about supporting the financial health of a growing business.

Ideal Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial or senior position. Landscape / Construction industry experience is a plus.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
  • Financial Expertise: Strong knowledge of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis. Experience with cost management and profitability enhancement.
  • Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) and Microsoft Excel (advanced).
  • Leadership Skills: Strong team leadership and mentorship abilities with experience managing or working with finance teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and provide practical, data-driven solutions that improve financial outcomes.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and data analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
