Job Description:

St. Stephen's Lutheran Academy is a licensed private academic school for students in grades K through 12 who require specialized educational programs due to diverse challenges. Our innovative programs are designed to help students succeed by creating a therapeutic environment of positive behavior interventions. QUALIFICATIONS:


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in human service, psychology, or education field; or high school diploma and one year experience as a Program Coordinator – Education Behavioral Support at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Academy; or a high school diploma and three years of progressive experience working with children in a behavioral health or education setting. Supervisory experience preferred.

  2. Ability to lead, motivate and coach others in a fast-paced, family-focused environment

  3. Experience working with an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

  4. Must complete and pass agency Crisis/Physical Intervention training and have the physical dexterity in order to assist in student physical interventions if necessary.

  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  6. Must be able to adjust hours to job requirements.

  7. Must be eligible for PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance, FBI clearance and Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form.

  8. Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  9. Must be able to identify with the agency Mission Statement and support the agency’s Core Values. 

POSITION SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES:

Maintain a safe nurturing learning environment in which every interaction with a student is an opportunity to help them learn, grow, and heal


  1. Assist in assigning and securing substitute Teachers and Teaching Assistants to ensure safety and adequate coverage.

  2. Respond, manage, and coach staff in crisis situations.

  3. Review all incident reports and follow up to ensure all documentation is complete.

  4. Model social responsibility by keeping school environment clean and safe and report any unsafe conditions.

  5. Effectively communicate and resolve problems with bus drivers, transportation directors, school districts, parole/probation officers, and parents.

Ensure consistency and fidelity with agency values and preferred clinical/educational/ behavioral approaches


  1. Monitor Glade Run philosophy knowledge of Teaching Assistants, Senior Teaching Assistants and Program Coordinators of Education Behavioral Support through monthly supervision and observation, using training, coaching and mentoring techniques and maintaining appropriate documentation.

  2. Implement monitoring tools to assure Teaching Assistants, Senior Teaching Assistants and Program Coordinators of Education Behavioral Support use of Glade Run philosophy in service delivery.

  3. Coach Senior Teaching Assistants to work collaboratively with teachers to write measurable individualized goals which are tied to the student/family definition of needs to succeed in the school environment.

  4. Work with the Director of Education/Principal and the school’s administrative team to ensure that trainings are consistent with agency values, clinical, educational, and behavioral approaches and job skill sets.

  5. Attend, actively participate, and facilitate school leadership team meetings, behavioral support team meetings, red flag meetings, interdepartmental meetings, and IEP meetings as needed.

Support staff to ensure strong family relations


  1. In conjunction with the school’s leadership team, coach and monitor that Strengths-Needs-Cultural-Discovery (SNCD) assessment is conducted upon enrollment and utilized with each student and family.

  2. Coach Senior Teaching Assistants to ensure that a minimum of weekly contact occurs with the family via phone call, email, letter, etc.

  3. Implement and monitor measurable approaches to build partnerships with student/families.

  4. Ensure that the teams developed match the identified needs of the student/family.

Monitor the provision of clinical, educational, and behavioral services within areas of responsibility


  1. In collaboration with the Director of Education/Principal, evaluate delivery of clinical, educational, behavioral services to ensure that highly individualized goals can be generalized to school through direct observation, monthly supervision, data review, family feedback, etc.

  2. Teach/coach current best practice interventions/approaches as evidenced by review of supervision notes and review of data.

Support the Principal with fiscal oversight, monitoring costs, and controlling budget


  1. Work collaboratively with school leadership to monitor staff productivity and staffing patterns on a daily basis to ensure proper coverage.

  2. Monitor supervisees time sheets.

Implementation of the Glade Run strategic plan


  1. Assist in the rollout of new programs identified by the Vice Presidents and Principal

  2. Monitor, collect and analyze data to include in quarterly strategic plan outcome reports.
