The Human Resources Generalist I will maintain confidentiality and accuracy of appropriate documentation throughout employment history for all employees. Administers policies relating to all phases of human resource activities (payroll, including recruitment and selection, policy/practices, discipline, personnel issues, compensation, training and development, performance management, health and safety, benefits, and legal compliance).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Essential Functions:

  • Support and be the backup for new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Support HR Manager with HR programs and policies as they apply to governance and compliance for EEO-1, VEVRAA, employee relations, compensation, benefits and safety
  • Administer various HR plans and procedures inclusive of; developing and implementing personnel policies, managing training programs
  • FMLA / STD administration and tracking
  • Supports recruiting activities to fill vacant positions.
  • Support internal clients with effective HR policies, procedures and guidelines; timely responding to issues and complaints; facilitating HR-related investigations; and administering appropriate documentation.
  • Process personnel changes, employee information changes and compensation adjustments
  • Under direction of the HR Manager, backup to process bi-weekly payroll, employee bonuses and salary changes accurately per approval requests for changes in employee status for compliance and ongoing data integrity
  • Prepare employee notices, letters, memorandums, and other documents as required
  • Educate employees on benefit programs and assist with resolving benefits-related issues
  • Maintain and update job descriptions
  • Manage company headcount by tracking and distributing metrics
  • This position owns the full cycle talent acquisition process which includes conducting phone screens, participating in job fairs and University career events
  • Process and submit candidates to hiring managers through the Application (ATS) Tracking System
  • Identify, source, and assess a diverse pool of qualified candidates, manage candidates through the full recruitment process, and focus on providing each candidate with a great onboarding experience.
  • Gathering, interpreting and presenting data that offers insights into our operations, and provides the basis for ongoing improvements
  • Partner with management when conducting investigations and resolving employee relations issues.
  • Involved in terminations and conduct exit interviews
  • Manage all Personal files and Employee Administration and Documentations
  • Coach and advise employees regarding HR programs, practices and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned by HR Manager

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Broad understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • 5-8 years previous experience as a HR Generalist, employee relations experience
  • Experience processing payroll for a company size of 200 or more employees

Background Prerequisites:

  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a Human Resources preferred
  • PHR/SPHR certification desired
  • Previous experience using CostPoint
